Palm Beach Gardens, FL (January 19, 2017) – Fresh off a whirlwind introduction in 2016, including best-in-show accolades at ICAST 2016 and the Pitman Creek Wholesale Show, and rounding out an award trifecta with terminal tackle best-in show honors at Big Rock West, the industry barnstormers at Trapper Tackle have stocked their pro team shelves with established anglers and up-and-comers from coast to coast. Through both outreach and high-level competition, these new Trapper teammates are poised to show the world the bait-holding and fish-securing power of the innovative, patented Trapper Hooks.

West Coast tournament angler Ken Mah is a 20-year veteran of the fishing industry, boasting several tournament victories across California and eight FLW Outdoors Top 10 finishes. “I pride myself in always looking for an edge in tournament fishing, and the Trapper Box gives me just that,” Mah stated. “I’ve been fishing Trapper Hooks for the past two months, side-by-side with traditional J-shaped hooks. During that time, I’ve noticed that once I hook a fish, I land a higher percentage of them with Trapper Hooks – they’re simply superior.” In 2017, Mah will compete in FLW Costa Del Mar series events, the Wild West Bass Trail, US Open, and the Clear Lake Open.

Louisiana-based Derek Hudnall offers a lifetime of outdoor experiences and a solid tournament fishing resume to the Trapper Tackle team. Hudnall fished his first BFL event at the age of 16, and was the points leader in the Southern Division by the ripe age of 18. Fast forward 10 years to 2015-2016, when Hudnall fished 9 B.A.S.S. Open Series events and racked up 2 top-30’s, one top-20 and one top-10 finish. When considering the unique attributes of Trapper Hooks, Hudnall states that, “I had never fished with a product that instantly increases my bass hook-up ratio…until I tied on my first Trapper Hook.” Hudnall is setting the bar high in 2017, when he will compete in all three B.A.S.S. Open Series – Central, Southern and Northern – with the B.A.S.S. Elite Series in his sights.

Samantha Gay brings a unique combination of competitive fishing and youth outreach experience to the Trapper Tackle team. A member of the North Carolina B.A.S.S. Nation State Team, Gay also has a passion for providing fishing and outdoor experiences to children: she is the founder of Fishers of Kids Angler’s Academy, an outreach program that teaches life lessons, promotes healthy living and has the potential to change lives, through fishing. Trapper Hooks will be a big part of helping these kids to catch their first fish, lighting the fire of fishing passion in young anglers throughout North Carolina.

Trapper Tackle CEO, George Catuogno notes, “Ken Mah, Samantha Gay and Derek Hudnall are anglers that understand both the sport and the business of fishing. In 2017 it’s not enough just to be a great angler; you also have to know how to be an effective promoter and use the tools of the trade. These three gifted anglers are great additions to the Trapper family, and have the right combination of skills and passion to help build our brand.”

Now available at retailers across the country and on-line, the award-winning Trapper Hooks make use of the exquisitely engineered Trapper Box to help baits stay rigged correctly, and to help keep fish pinned to the hook after the strike. Compatible with a wide variety of soft plastics as well as live and natural baits, Trapper Hooks are designed to help anglers land more fish, and have more fun, every time they are on the water.
