Colley Wins ABT on Pickwick Fishing Alone by: Jason Sealock

Date:

Kris Colley didn’t want fish by himself, but when his regular tournament partner Adam Bain couldn’t make the  trip to Florence, he decided to go it alone at the Alabama Bass Trail tournament on Pickwick Lake and landed 25.11 pounds of bass to win the $10,000 first place prize of which he said he was going to split with his absent partner.

“We’re a team,” Colley said. “Adam wanted to be here, but he has had a prior engagement for 3 months. He wanted to come fish half of the day but the rules wouldn’t allow it.

Colley caught his bass flipping a green pumpkin LC’s jig around wood on mud banks within a mile of the takeoff site at McFarland Park. His limit was anchored by a 6.59-pound bass.
