CASHION FISHING RODS 'END OF YEAR' TEAM BASS TRAIL QUALIFIER #2 RESULTS – Saturday July 26th, 2014

Date:

726-141st1st Place Thomas Sheffer & Ken McNeillcaught 5 bass weighing a total of only 12.17 lbs

The Cashion Fishing Rods ‘End of Year’ Team Tournament Bass Fishing Trail Qualifier #2 at Mayo
Reservoir this past Saturday proved bass fishing here can be tough in the summer! 22 teams showed up to fish Mayo, which is tough to fish because of the deep clear water! Cloudy weather helped the catch in the morning.
Air temps were about 69 in the am and around 91 in the afternoon. The wind was light in the am and then about 5 to 10 in the pm. Water temps averaged 83 degrees. The most fish were caught in 5 to 10′ water early on. Once the sun popped out the bite slowed but some anglers did fool a few bass in up to 20′ of water. Carolina rigs using watermelon colored worms seemed to be the hot baits. Crankbaits and Rat-L-Traps took their toll on the rest of the fish.
Thomas Sheffer & Ken McNeillcaught 5 bass weighing a total of only 12.17 lbs. but it was enought to take
1st Place worth $800.

Right on their tails was the 2nd Place Team of Jay Garrard & Mark Herndon with 5 bass
weighing 11.33 lbs. They also won the 1st Place TWT and took home a total of $775. Big fish for the day was
caught by the 4th place team of Lonnie Whitfield & Phillip Smith (4.37 lbs.) winning them a total of $508. 2nd place Team Member Jay Garrard won the Tow Boats US Member Award of $50.

58 bass were weighed in for a total of 130 pounds. This averaged a little over 2 lbs. a fish and they were nice and healthy looking. Mayo is a good fishery but the size caught is a little small compared to other bass lakes in the area.
I want to thank all the anglers that participated and all our sponsors that support these trails. Our next
tournament will be the Cashion Fishing Rods ‘End of Year’ Team Tournament Bass Fishing Trail Qualifier #3, Saturday, August 9th at Kerr Lake out of Flemintown Landing Wildlife Ramp.
