WALMART BASS FISHING LEAGUE PREVIEW FOR SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21
Advisory for Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015
WHAT: The Walmart Bass Fishing League continues its 2015 tournament season the weekend of Saturday, Feb. 21 with a Gator Division tournament on Lake Okeechobee in Okeechobee, Florida. Up to 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for a top award of up to $8,000 and $3,000 respectively in the one-day event.
WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015
Gator Division
Lake Okeechobee
C. Scott Driver Park
10100 W. Highway 78
Okeechobee, Fla.
NOTES: According to local fishing reports, Lake Okeechobee is expected to fish well. Bass have begun moving into their prespawn patterns which means a lot of action could be found at all water depths as they move in and out of their feeding areas. Fishing the grass and creek channels as well as looking for bass on beds will all play a role in this tournament. Anglers will most likely opt for flipping and pitching jigs, Texas-rigged soft plastics, vibrating jigs and Gambler Big EZ swimbaits in this event. The winning five-bass stringer is expected to be right around 25 pounds.
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 50 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and are competing to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American. The 2015 BFL All-American is being held June 18-20 on Kentucky Lake in Buchanan, Tenn. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the Rayovac FLW Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
