THREE ANGLERS WITHDRAW FROM WALMART FLW TOUR, STEWART TO SIT OUT CHICKAMAUGA
MINNEAPOLIS (June 5, 2015) – Walmart FLW Tour pros Tony Dumitras, Dale Hightower and Jeremy Starks informed FLW of their decisions to withdraw from the remaining two regular-season FLW Tour events in the 2015 season. Pro Kevin Stewart will also miss the Chickamauga event for a family obligation but will return for the sixth and final regular-season tournament on the Potomac River. A tournament field of 148 boats will compete next week at the FLW Tour at Lake Chickamauga presented by Igloo Coolers.
Dumitras, a Winston, Georgia native, recently suffered a heart attack and was ordered by doctors to not fish over the next three to four months. He hopes to return for the 2016 season. He had fished four events in 2015 with his best showing being a 136th-place finish at Lake Eufaula.
Hightower, of Mannford, Oklahoma, had also fished four events this season with his best finish coming at Beaver Lake, 88th-place. Starks, of Scott Depot, West Virginia, fished just one event on Tour this year after being called up from the waiting list in April. He finished in 145th place at Beaver Lake.
Stewart, a native of Elk Grove, California, has fished in four events this season and is currently ranked No. 134 in the 2015 FLW Tour Angler of the Year race. He will re-join the Tour for the Potomac River event.
In FLW Tour competition, anglers are also vying for valuable points in hopes of qualifying for the 2015 Forrest Wood Cup, the world championship of bass fishing. The 2015 Forrest Wood Cup will be in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Aug. 20-23 on Lake Ouachita and is hosted by Visit Hot Springs. The Forrest Wood Cup Champion could win as much as $500,000 – professional bass-fishing’s richest prize.
