MINNEAPOLIS (June 8, 2015) – Walmart FLW Tour pro Keith Amerson of Selmer, Tennessee, informed FLW of his decision Saturday to withdraw from the remaining two regular-season FLW Tour events in the 2015 season due to a family medical obligation. A tournament field of 147 boats will compete this week at the FLW Tour at Lake Chickamauga presented by Igloo Coolers.
Amerson issued the following statement via his Facebook page:
“Just wanted to let all my friends and supporters know that I won’t be competing in the last two FLW Tour events of the season. I had a cute little granddaughter that decided to come two weeks early. We knew that there’d be a few complications when she was born, so I’m sitting fishing aside for awhile until everything is fine with her. I feel my first job is to be there for my family and that what I intend to do as well as spoil my little Evan. My daughter is doing very good and she’s going to be an amazing mother and everything with baby Evan is going as expected. I ask that you all continue to pray for Evan. I want to thank each of you that have supported me the last two seasons, it means so much. Hopefully, I can get back to fishing next season. Thank you all.”
Amerson fished four events in 2015 and was in 133rd place in the Angler of the Year race. His best showing of the season was a 98th-place finish last month at Lake Eufaula.
In FLW Tour competition, anglers are also vying for valuable points in hopes of qualifying for the 2015 Forrest Wood Cup, the world championship of bass fishing. The 2015 Forrest Wood Cup will be in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Aug. 20–23 on Lake Ouachita and is hosted by Visit Hot Springs. The Forrest Wood Cup Champion could win as much as $500,000 – professional bass-fishing’s richest prize.
