The Cashion Fishing Rods ‘End of Year’ Team Tournament Bass Fishing Trail Qualifier #3 at Kerr Lake was just a little tough for the 34 teams that fought 15 to 20 mph winds and low water conditions. Air temps ranged
from 72 to 85 and the water level was around 298 for this day. Surface water temps averaged 84 degrees! The shallow bite was on for a few hours early on then the bass backed off to dropoffs around 15 to 20 feet. It was
tough to sit on deep fish in the high wind conditions.
Dom Barretta & Dennie Gilbert deep caught 5 bass weighing 16.31 lbs to take 1st Place and 1st Place TWT for a total of $1,695!
2nd Place was won by Ryan and Wayne Mace with 5 bass weighing 16.24 lbs. They also won 2nd Place TWT & 1st Place Big Fish (4.92 lbs.)to take home a total of $1,323. The 3rd Place Team of
Brandon Gray & Robert Perkins landed 5 bass weighing 16.05 lbs. & also tied for 2nd Place Big Fish (4.09 lbs.) with Vern Fleming & Glen Long to take home $510. It was really close weights for these top 3 !!
92 bass were brought to the scales for a total of 231 pounds averaging 2.51 lbs. each. Most were caught on straight lining spoons, Drop Shots, Carolina worm rigs, crankbait & jig combos in 15 feet of water on average. A
good number were also caught early on spinnerbaits.
