The cold front set in for the Piedmont Bass Classics ‘Easter Open, our 3rd open tournament of the year, with 32 teams showing up in 52 degree morning temps and afternoon temps around 63. The winds were 5 to 15 mph for the most of the day and the water level was right at normal pool. Water temps averaged 62 degrees and the water clarity was fairly good. 77 bass were weighed in for a total weight of 233 pounds. Today was just that day when the cold front moves in and the winds are strong form the NE. The fish backed off the banks and decided for the most part to keep their mouths shut!! The bass will head to the shallows when the water is warming up and the spawning process should begin soon!!

Bobby Matthews, fishing without his regular partner brother David, weighed in 5 bass at 18.30 lbs to take 1st Place for a total of $1,152 and trophies!

Following closely was the 2nd Place team of Jaime Fajardo & Josh Hooks with 5 bass weighing 18.04 lbs. They also won 1st place TWT to take home a total of $1,232. 1st Place Big Fish (7.38 lbs.) went to the team of Mike Hodges & Johnny Wood winning them $448. The money got spread around pretty good today making a lot of anglers happy!!
Most bass were caught with crankbaits, spinnerbaits & jerk baits. Most were caught in 10’ or less waters.

I want to thank all the anglers that participated and all our sponsors. Our next tournament will be the 2016 Piedmont Bass Classics $10,000 Spring Team Bass Trail Qualifier #3, Saturday April 2nd also at Falls Lake out of Ledge Rock Wildlife Ramp.
Our next Open/Invitational tournament will be the Piedmont Bass Classics 150 Shootout at Jordan Lake, April 9th, for boats with 150 hp or less motors!! Info on this event can be found at:
