Another big turnout for the 2016 Piedmont Bass Classics $10,000 Spring Team Bass Trail Qualifier #5 at Jordan Lake!! It just keeps getting better!! The weatherman snuck one in on us. The predicted sunny with highs in the
70’s turned out to be a cold front with overcast skies all day with highs in the 60’s, morning heavy mist and winds around 10mph out of the NNW all day. I could save the TV stations a lot of money if they ever need a new weatherman!! Water temps averaged 75. A big crowd of 79 teams participated with most all of them weighing in some fish. Jordan bass are bedding hard with some finished but plenty in a hard spawn at this time. It was tough.
Billy Bledsoe & Brian McDonald won their 2nd 2016 PBC Spring Trail Qualifier weighing in 5 bass at 24.24 lbs. to take 1st place, 2nd Place Big Fish Award (7.53 lbs), 1st place TWT and also will receive a check from Skeeter Boats Real Money for a total of $6,272 in winnings.
Winning 2nd place (their highest finish ever with PBC) was the team of Steve Bulluck & Brad Ellinger with 5 fish weighing 23.47 lbs. They also won 2nd Place TWT for a total of $1,452. 3rd Place Team, Jimmy Holland &
Richard Greene, had 5 weighing 22.62 lbs. and along with 1st Place Big Fish Award, they pocketed $2,102!! Scott Smith won the Tow Boats US Member Award.
216 fish were weighed in for a total of 677 pounds for an average of 3.13 lbs. each. Most of the fish were caught on WLS shaky heads, crankbaits, Bass Alarm Jigs, Shanes spinnerbaits, jerk baits and plastic worms in 2 to 10′ of water or less. It was really a tough bite due to the spawn.
