BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — DICK’S Sporting Goods has signed a three-year partnership with B.A.S.S. that includes sponsorship of both the Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo and the fast-growing Bassmaster High School program.

The partnership builds on the momentum gained during DICK’S Sporting Goods’ sponsorship of the Outdoors Expo, held concurrently with the GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro in March. The 2017 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro will be DICK’S ninth consecutive year as presenting sponsor of the Outdoors Expo, and it is expected to draw some of the largest crowds in tournament history. The event has averaged more than 102,000 people in attendance annually over the past five years.

The Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo will take place March 24-26, 2017, in Houston, Texas, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The Expo will cover more than 300,000 square feet, the largest in Bassmaster Classic history.

“The Classic Outdoors Expo presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods continues to grow in popularity and importance to the sportfishing community each year, and we’re grateful for DICK’S Sporting Goods’ continued support of this outstanding event,” said B.A.S.S. CEO Bruce Akin. “And we are extremely pleased that DICK’S has stepped up to support high school fishing, which we see as so vital to the future of sportfishing.”

Based on its continued success as the presenting sponsor of the Outdoors Expo, DICK’S is expanding its reach to young anglers throughout the country. The new partnership extends to the Bassmaster High School program, including the Costa Bassmaster High School Series and the Bassmaster High School All-American program.

“DICK’S Sporting Goods is committed to the future of fishing and young people in the outdoors,” said Dave Natale, Director of Sports and Event Marketing, “and high school fishing is an exciting and fast-growing activity that we’re glad to be a part of.”

More than 6,000 high school anglers have joined the B.A.S.S. High School program, and 520 clubs throughout the United States competed on the Costa Bassmaster High School Series in 2016, and the list is only continuing to grow. High school anglers were awarded more than $100,000 in scholarship money in the past year.

DICK’S will also serve as the presenting sponsor of the Bassmaster High School All-American program, which is in its third year. The program recognizes high school anglers who have demonstrated outstanding fishing ability, strong leadership and exceptional character. Nominations for the 2017 Bassmaster High School All-American team will open in January.
