CASHION FISHING RODS SPRING TEAM TOURNAMENT BASS TRAIL QUALIFIER #3

Finally got a pretty day for the 58 boats that arrived to fish the Cashion Fishing Rods Spring Team Tournament Bass Trail Qualifier #3 at Falls Lake. The weather was very nice for March with winds light in the am and up to 8 mph in the afternoon, the air temps ranged from 54 to 78 and the water level was about normal. Surface water temps averaged 56 degrees and the water was a little dingy! The bite was pretty light.
The fish are still staging for the spawn in around 4 to 6′ of water. It won’t be long at Falls before the nurseries open!The Father/Son Team of Dane & Zack Sallinger caught 5 nice bass weighing a total of 21.30 lbs to take 1stPlace and 1st Place TWT for a total of $2,060 in winnings!
The 2nd Place team of Owen Penhollow & George Just (subbing for Tyler Goss) caught 5 bass weighing 20.66 lbs. and took home $605 in winnings. The 3rd Place team of Billy Bledsoe & Brian McDonald brought to the scales 5 bass weighing 20.21 lbs. and they also won 1st Place Big Fish (8.63 lbs.) to rack up $1,095 in winnings.
151 bass were brought to the scales for a total of 478 pounds averaging 3.16 lbs. each. Spinnerbaits, jig & pigs, chatterbaits and small crankbaits in the more shallow water seemed to be the lures of choice.
