Saturday April 22nd, 2017 ~ Kerr Lake ~ Flemingtown Landing Wildlife Ramp
The 2017 Piedmont Bass Classics $10,000 Spring Team Bass Trail Qualifier #4 at Kerr Lake drew 87 boats! Our largest crowd ever at Kerr! The weather was nice for Saturday with air temps around 64 degrees in the am on up to 79 in the pm. We did have a little shower before & during blastoff but nothing to damper the anglers efforts!! Water temps averaged about 72 degrees. Winds were nonexistent in the am up to about 7 mph in the afternoon. There were a lot of bass weighed in but most were small. Kerr is coming right along and the fish are looking very healthy.
The Father/Son Team of Chuck & Hunter Byrd won this PBC event weighing in 5 bass at 16.20 lbs. and also won the Tournament Within a Tournament (TWT) for a total of $2,955 in winnings.
Keith Deal & Ricky Kenworthy came in 2nd place with 5 fish weighing 15.24 lbs. & also won 2nd Place TWT to pocket a total of $1,495. 3rd place team Scott Faulkner & David Wright won $665 with 14.55 lbs. 4th place team, Jerry Marshburn & Rick Ohlson subbing for Kevin Woodall , had 5 weighing 14.29 lbs. and they took home $605. The 17th place team of David Bullock & Jimmy Henderson also weighed in the 1st Place Big Fish (5.56 lbs.) giving them a total of $1,291!! The prize money got spread around pretty good today!340 fish were weighed in for a total of 1,019 pounds for an average of 2.44 lbs. each. Most of the fish were caught on WLS shaky heads, Jig combos, swimbaits, chatterbaits, Spinnerbaits and Crankbaits inanywhere from 1 to 10 feet of water. Most of the bass had already spawned! The bite at Kerr should only get better from now on.
