Choate Takes The Win on Kentucky Lake

Brain Choate of Burns, TN won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series Tennessee Central tournament, held June 11, 2017 Kentucky Lake. Running out of Paris Landing State Park, Choate caught five bass weighing 22.99 pounds with a 6.13 – pound kicker. He took home $5000 for his efforts.
“I threw a big worm all day fishing ledges. I had my boat sitting in about 18 feet of water and was catching fish anywhere from 10-12 feet of water. I was able to cull a few times today to get to the weight I brought in,” stated Choate.
In second for the boaters, Jeremy Carey of Drummonds, TN. He landed a five-bass tournament limit going 21.75 pounds with a 5.57 – pound kicker. He collected $700 for the effort.
“We fished ledges today, I threw a jig and a drop shot all day. I was able to find about five or six schools of fish, and finally got on a good school and caught fish all day there all day long,” said Carey.
Mike Wasden of Paris, TN took third for the boaters with five bass going 21.24 pounds taking home $500.
“I ran all over the lake today from one end to the other throwing a football jig. I was targeting ledges and caught probably 50-60 fish all day,” stated Wasden.
Mark Pack of Hendersonville, TN took fourth place with a weight of 20.46 pounds.
Josh Tramel of Smithville, TN took fifth with a five bass limit going 20.37 pounds with a 6.18 pound kicker. Josh’s 6.18 pound kicker was enough to take home the big bass of the tournament earning him $400.
In the Co-Angler Division, Joel Trevino of Mt. Juliet, TN won with three bass going 15.47 pounds. He sealed his victory with a 5.99-pound kicker to pocket a check for $1000. The 5.99 pound kicker was good enough for big bass on the co-angler side earning him another check of $160.
“We targeted ledges all day long just throwing a green pumpkin jig and also a carolina rig all day. I didn’t get to cull that much like my boater did, but it was a good day,” stated Trevino.
Taking second for the co-anglers, David Ramey of Kingsport, TN. He brought in a three-bass division limit weighing 14.77 pounds including a 4.72-pound kicker. He collected $400 for the effort.
“I am definitely tired, I came from another tournament in East Tennessee to fish this one. I caught most of fish using a tube fishing ledges. I threw back a bunch of three pound fish. I was never able to get the big bite, but it was a good day,” said Ramey.
Brandon Ratledge of Rossville, GA took placed third among the co-anglers with three bass going 12.42 pounds to earn $300.
“We fished ledges all day. I threw a lot of different baits from crankbaits, worms, jigs, and Carolina rigs. It was a slow day, I caught two four pounders back to back but other than that it was slow,” stated Ratledge.
In fourth place among the co-anglers Jeremy Jones of Gallatin, TN. He brought in three bass for 11.68 pounds with a 5.37 pound kicker.
John Wilkerson of Nashville, TN finished in fifth place with three bass at 11.64 pounds.
Slated for September 9-10, 2017 the Divisional Championship will be held on Chickamauga launching out of Dayton Boat Dock. At the end of the season, the best anglers from across the nation advance the 2018 Ray Scott Championship.
