Another cold front!! However, it didn’t stop the 54 boats that arrived to fish hard for the 1st Place award in the Cashion Fishing Rods Spring Team Tournament Bass Trail Qualifier #2 at Jordan Lake. The weather was not too bad with winds very light for most of the day and up to 5 mph in the afternoon, the air temps ranged from 34 to 54 and the water level was right at 217. Surface water temps averaged 50 degrees depending where you were on the lake! The fish were on the banks in 2 to 6 foot of water but were picky on that baits and the speeds they were fish. Water needs to warm up a few degrees and the bite should be back on!!
Todd Massey & Brandon Gray, found a few spots of warmer water and caught 5 nice bass weighing a total of 25.89 lbs. to take 1st Place, 1st Place TWT and also $500 from The Triton Gold Contingency Program for a total of $2,450 in prize money! Gray on left, Massey on right.
The 2nd Place team of Ricky Petty & Steven Andrews caught 5 bass weighing 19.46 lbs. and along with winning the 2nd Place TWT they took home $990 in winnings. The 3rd Place team of John Anton & Britt Kuchen presented 5 bass weighing 17.86 lbs. to rack up $535 in winnings. Big Bass (9.07 lbs.) for the day was caught by the team of
Keith Deal & Ricky Kenworthy winning them $742. The 2nd place Big Fish (8.73 lbs.) was caught by the team of Matt Cashion & Brad Staley for $318 in winnings!
91 bass were brought to the scales for a total of 328 pounds averaging 3.60 lbs. each. Shallow running crankbaits, chatterbaits, jerk baits & Jigs in the more shallow water seemed to be the lures of choice.
I want to thank Cashion Fishing Rods and all the anglers that participated. Our next tournament will be the 2018 PBC Academy Sports & Outdoors $10,000 Spring Team Bass Trail Qualifier #2 , Saturday March 17th also at Jordan Lake out of Farrington Point Wildlife Ramp.
