The 2018 PBC Academy Sports & Outdoors $10,000 Spring Team Bass Trail Qualifier #3 at Falls Lake was a record setter! 1st of all, we had 98 boats, a record for PBC, and probably the least amount of weight ever weighed in on a big PBC Spring Trail event! That morning the air temp was 44 degrees then warmed up to 68 in the pm. Water temps averaged about 57 degrees. Winds were light at the 7:15 blastoff and then picked up to about 8 mph for the afternoon!  What we thought was gonna be a good fishing day was crippled by the full moon, another front and the Corp letting the water out at a high rate. You never know from one day to another how the bite will be. But a good bite is still coming!!

Billy Bledsoe & Brian McDonald topped the field weighing in 5 bass at 20.53 lbs. & also won the 1st Place TWT & Prize money from TH Marine & Skeeter Boats for a total of $6,713 in winnings. The team found the fish late in 2′ to 10′ grassy water using chatterbaits and flipping plastics. They had 1 really big fish (7.24 lbs.) that helped fill the sack!!

Close behind by only .17th of a pound was the team of Seth Ellis & Doug Stalling taking 2nd place with 5 fish (one at 7.36 lbs.) weighing 20.36 lbs. and 2nd Place TWT to take home $1,567 in winnings. 3rd Place Team, Tom Saywell & Brad
Corrao, had 5 nice fish weighing 17.78 lbs. and took home $705!! The 1st Place Big Fish Award (7.64 lbs.) went to the 6th Place team of Bud Whitt & Spencer Moody. They took home a whopping $1,814 in winnings!!! Shane Burns took 2nd
Big Fish award with a nice 7.59 pounder and won $576! The prize money got spread around pretty good again today!

Only 142 fish were weighed in for a total of 391 pounds for an average of 2.75 lbs. each, the lowest average weight for Falls Lake I’ve ever seen for this time ofyear.  Most of the fish were caught on chatterbaits, flippin’ plastics and shallow running crankbaits in anywhere from 2 to 10 feet of water. The Spring bite is coming, but we’ve got to have some warmer weather and less cold fronts!!! We also had a lot of new names on the winners list today! Congrats to all !!!

I want to thank all the anglers that participated and all our sponsors that support this trail. Our next tournament is Saturday April 7th, the PBC Cashion Fishing Rods Spring Trail Q#4 at Kerr Lake out of Flemingtown Landing Wildlife
