CARL HAYES WINS AFT D72 ON OCONEE

Warm weather brought out 46 anglers to Lake Oconee for D72 on April 14, 2018. Carl Hayes of Eatonton, Ga had a 5 fish limit weighing 17.54 pounds to secure the win.  He was fishing shallow using spinnerbaits and top water lures.  Carl won $813 for the first place payout.

Barry Stokes of Oxford, Ga also had a 5 fish limit, including a 5.23 pounder which took the Big Bass pot of $235.  Barry placed second overall, to win an additional $533.

Rodney Sorensen of Gray, Ga said he caught his best fish early, using a swim jig when he saw the shad spawn.  Rodney won the third place trophy, and took home $267 for the day.

After the awards of trophies and cash payouts, there were draw prizes including three $50 gift cards to Sugar Creek Marina, won by Joey Dobbs, Martin Rutledge, and Frank Speights.   Also, some hats, coolers, and restaurant gift cards were given as draw prizes.

The next tournament for D72 will be on April 28, 2018  on Lake Jackson, going out of Berry’s Boat Docks.
