2018 Youth Fishing Tournament Fish Tales Lake Anna VA

On Saturday May 12, 2018, we were greeted with forecasted temps in the low 90’s and sunny skies. A record number of participants started to arrive at Fish Tales around 7am. By the time 9 o’clock rolled around, 74 participants from ages 3 to 15 headed out in search of the largest Bass, Crappie, Catfish and Sunfish in their respective age group.

The tournament times were from 9am–1pm. Following the fishing was a great selection of food provided by Big Cheese Pizza (chicken wings & pizza), Penny James brought two trays of her home made chicken tenders, assorted sandwich and vegetable trays from Food Lion. There was also a great assortment of desserts provided by the families of the participants. If you left the event hungry, it was your fault.

Following the fellowship and food, the most exciting weigh in of the year took place. There were smiles everywhere and a very long line of anglers patiently waiting to hand Dave Fauntleroy their fish and take a stab at the lead. After it was all said and done, here are the winners of each age group:

Halle Campbell (age 8) Crappie 1.20 pounds

Zoe Maupin (age 8) Bass 2.38 Pounds

Avery James (age 4) Sunfish .42 Pounds

Easton Nunnally (age 6) Catfish 3.38 Pounds

Jackie Spevack (age 10) Crappie .91 Pounds

Anya Combs (age 10) Bass 2.38 Pounds

Reed Morrison (age 10) Sunfish .51 Pounds

Calleigh Craft (age 12) Catfish 2.45 Pounds

Sam Fleming (age 14) Crappie .95 Pounds

Michael Wandell (age 13) Bass 2.56 Pounds

Colby Burcham (age 13) .41 Pounds

Jayden Pearson (age15) Catfish 2.92 Pounds

This years Grand Champion walked away with a large trophy, three rod and reel combo’s and $130 cash!!!!

The cash was donated by parents of the participants and we would like to thank each and every one of them…….
