Tulsa, Okla. – Lowrance®, a world-leader in fishing electronics since 1957, announced today that Lowrance professional angler Drew Benton of Panama City, Florida won the 2018 Toyota® Bassmaster Texas Fest benefiting Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The event was held May 17-20 on Lake Travis in Jonestown, Texas. Benton’s four-day weight of 67 pounds, 15 ounces took first place and the $100,000 prize. Benton also won the Toyota Bonus Bucks Award of $3,000 for being the highest-placing eligible entrant in the program.
Jacob Wheeler of Harrison, Tenn., also a Lowrance professional, placed second with a four-day total of 64 pounds, 8 ounces. Five of the Top 12 anglers used Lowrance fishfinder/chartplotters – more than any other brand.
“While figuring out which banks were going to be productive, I looked at my mapping and could tell whether it was deep water or shallow,” said Benton. “Early in the morning, when the fish were schooling, I would go out into deeper water. By seeing exactly how deep the fish were, I could use either a swim bait or my topwater lures. I used StructureScan all week, and with the new FishReveal technology, I could see exactly how big the fish were, which made a difference.”
“We are proud of the top-notch performance of our anglers in every tournament this year,” said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico. “Lowrance anglers are consistently at the top of the leaderboard. Our superior sonar technology, coupled with an easy-to-use interface gives our team all the information they need to focus on fishing. The results speak for themselves.”
From now until May 31, buyer’s can get up to $500 back in the HDS Ultimate Upgrade promotion. For details visit https://www.lowrance.com/offers/. |
