Robertson wins on Kerr Lake

ATHENS, Ala. – Mark Robertson of Henderson, North Carolina, won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Virginia Division tournament held on June 23rd on Kerr Lake. Running out of Nutbush Park in Henderson, North Carolina, Robertson weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 12.49-pounds. He anchored his catch with a bass weighing 4.08-pounds. For the boater division victory, he took home a check for $5000.00.
“I caught my fish shallow throughout the day. I had around 10 keepers all coming on topwater and a spinnerbait,” said Henderson.
In second for the boaters, Jason Dew of Hallsboro, North Carolina, landed a five-bass limit weighing 11.52-pounds.
“I caught around 10 fish today. I was finally able to dial in a pattern on willow trees in the back of pockets,” said Dew.
Kyle Joyce of Reidsville, North Carolina placed third with a five-bass limit weighing 11.18-pounds.
“It was a slow day for me catching around 7 keepers. My fish came by flipping a senko,” said Joyce.
In fourth place for the boaters, Dan Treadaway of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 10.92-pounds and rounding out the top five, Jason Houchins of Clarksville, Virginia, weighed in five-bass weighing 10.57-pounds.
“I caught five keepers today. I had one on topwater and the rest came on a 10” worm,” said Gardner.
Taking second for the co-anglers, Zach Lyles of Charlotte, North Carolina, weighed in a three-bass co-angler limit weighing 7.25-pounds. He took home $400.00 for the effort.
“It was slow for me today. I caught 2 on a senko, one on a jig and one flipping a soft plastic bait,” said Lyles.
Taking third for the co-anglers, Bowman Gray of Lake Waccamaw North Carolina, weighed in three-bass weighing 6.44-pounds. He took home $350.00 for his catch.
“I had three bites today, catching two on topwater and one on a shaky head,” said Gray.
In fourth among the co-anglers, Ernest Warren of Burlington, North Carolina, weighed in a three-bass limit weighing 6.20-pounds and rounding out the top five, Larry Freeman of Lacrosse, Virginia, weighed in three-bass weighing 5.59-pounds.
Slated for 8/11/2018 the next Virginia Division event will be on Lake Gaston launching from Holly Grove Marina.
