STURTEVANT, Wis., August 15, 2018 – Evinrude announced today that its professional angler Clent Davis won the Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) tournament held August 10th-12th on Lake Ouachita in Arkansas. From Montevallo, Alabama, Davis clenched the Forrest Wood Cup win with 15 bass weighing in at 36 pounds 13 ounces. Three other Evinrude pros finished in the top ten, including Justin Atkins in third place, Jason Lambert in fifth place, and Zack Birge in sixth place.

The tournament featured 56 of the top bass-fishing anglers in the world. Davis won the $300,000 prize by beating out second-place angler James Niggemeyer after a surprising day on the water. Davis had edged into the top ten by just one ounce the previous day.

“I’ve been running an Evinrude [engine] for seven years now,” said Davis. “It has yet to let me down one single day of tournament competition. I don’t believe that I just won this!”

“The entire Evinrude team is very proud of Clent and his FLW win this weekend, especially because he is making a comeback to bass fishing this tournament season,” said Nando Zucchi, Vice President of Marketing and International Business Development for Evinrude. “Our anglers consistently perform at the highest level throughout the FLW circuit and to have four Evinrude engines in the top ten at the Cup Championship is amazing. These tournament pros truly represent the cream of the crop.”

The Forrest Wood Cup at Lake Ouachita was presented by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism and Hot Springs Resort. The purse was more than $1.05 million.
