David Wright Wins $10680.00 On Kerr Lake

ATHENS, Ala. –David Wright of Lexington, North Carolina won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Area 8 Championship held on Kerr Lake on November 3-4, 2018. Running out of Nutbush Park in Henderson, North Carolina, Wright weighed in a day one five-bass limit weighing 21.27-pounds. Going into day two with almost a two-pound lead, Wright caught another five bass-limit weighing 17.87-pounds to secure the win by giving him a two-day total weight of 39.14-pounds. Wright anchored his catch with a bass weighing 5.74-pounds which also gave him big bass honors for the boaters. For his win and big bass Wright took home a total of $10,680.00.
“I caught all my fish fishing windblown points with a crankbait,” said Wright. “On day two the wind had changed directions, so I had to reposition my boat to fish the points differently.”
“I caught all my fish in dirty water on a spinnerbait and a jig,” said Reams. “I was able to get the better bite today.”
“I caught a lot of fish in two days,” said Barrow. “Everything was caught on a spinnerbait and a jig.”
In fourth place for the boaters, Tommy Marrow of Oxford, North Carolina weighed in 9-bass weighing 26.61-pounds and rounding out the top five, Ray Griffin of Greensboro, North Carolina, weighed in two five-bass limits weighing 26.49-pounds.
“I caught all my fish dragging a jig both days. I was only looking for three bites a day. I was fortunate enough to get the right bites,” said McIntyre.
“I had two good boaters that had me around fish. All my fish for two days came on a spinnerbait,” said Smith.
“I caught a lot of fish both days,” said Jacobs. “Everything came on a spinnerbait, I just couldn’t get the bigger bite today.”
In fourth for the co-anglers Tim Gardner of Goldsboro, North Carolina weighed in two three-bass limits for 15.10-pounds and rounding out the top five, Michael Frye of Claysburg, PA, weighed in two co-angler limits weighing 14.99-pounds.
The big bass for the co-anglers was a 4.71-pounder weighed in on day one caught by Tim Gardner of Goldsboro, North Carolina. Gardner took home an additional $175.00 for the bass.
