TAMPA, Fla., April 29, 2019  – Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchors is proud to announce its partnership with the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF) for the 2019 NPCF All-American Fishing Tournament, a nationwide tournament that aims to raise awareness and funding for childhood cancer research.

Open to both freshwater and saltwater anglers across the country, the app-based competition kicked off on April 6, 2019, and runs through September 28, 2019. Along with $10,000 in total prize money, all entrants will be eligible to win a Power-Pole 8-foot Pro II Shallow Water Anchor.

“Power-Pole has a long and wonderful tradition of community support, and we are excited to announce their recent partnership with the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation in an effort to expand the ‘Fishing Funds the Cure’ initiative,” NPCF CEO David Frazer said. “This project helps to fund research to find less-toxic, more targeted treatments, therapies and cures for pediatric cancer.”

The catch, photograph and release tournament will utilize the iAngler Tournament app for Apple or Android. The winning fish will be determined based on the total length (in inches) of the largest, eligible species caught. Winners will be announced live on Facebook on Saturday, September 28, at 6 p.m. ET.

Anglers may register at FishingFundsTheCure.org at any time during the tournament. The registration fee is $25 per angler and includes an entry to win the Power-Pole anchor, the winner of which will be chosen at random. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three catches of the following species: largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill/bream, rainbow trout and cutthroat for freshwater anglers; and redfish, snook, spotted seatrout, flounder and striped bass for saltwater anglers. Anglers may fish from the shore, docks, seawalls, boats and bridges in any natural body of water.

“Power-Pole is committed to helping kids beat this battle,” said Jean Treimanis, CFO of JL Marine Systems Inc. “We can now all fish with a purpose as we support a worthy cause.”

Founded in 1991, the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation is dedicated to funding clinical trials by collaborating with a network of cutting-edge hospitals across the nation to eliminate childhood cancer and fast-track less toxic, more targeted treatments and therapies. Cancer is the leading cause of death among children, and 43 cases are diagnosed every day. More than 95% of those who survive childhood cancer will have a significant health-related issue by the time they are 45 as a result of being treated with drugs designed for adults.

In a recent episode of Down Time presented by Power-Pole, the Power-Pole media team, including Bryan and Greg Watts, ventured out into Tampa Bay to look for big bull reds and give some pointers to help competitors climb the fishing tournament’s leaderboard while defeating childhood cancer.
