Largemouth Bass update:
The summer heat hasn’t slowed down the largemouth bite very much, it’s still taking well over 20lbs to win a event. The fish are shallow and biting top waters and plastics. The big change for our inshore fishery’s this month is the yearly arrival of the Big Bull Reds. It’s definitely a bucket list fish, if there ever was one! These fish filter into our sounds, the Pamlico Sound and it’s tributaries to spawn through the months of August and September. These fish can be targeted with cut bait on the bottom or my favorite run and gun style of fishing with artificial. I use a variety of artificial lures including large rattle traps, top waters, big swimbaits and the most commonly used popping cork. The fish caught normally range from 40 to 52 inches in length and weigh up to 50 plus pounds. If you want to see it in person give me a call 252-799-9536. More in-depth details go to Carolina All Out and Slab Dynasty’s You Tube channel and check the the past videos I’ve helped with for catching Bull Reds in the Pamlico Sound. Everyone enjoy your summer and hope to see you on the water.
