FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (October 22, 2024) – Sometimes, merging the features and functions of two unique entities is an epic failure, say, like, Cheetos Lip Balm, or ridiculous, such as the jackalope. Other times, they merge harmoniously, an easy example being the car and truck fusion that became the SUV.From the cosmos of fishing, Ever Green’s new DXV-18– part of the DD X-Over family – is a beautifully engineered crossover lure, merging the body shape and actions of a crankbait and jerkbait. Created in collaboration with Bassmaster Elite favorite, Morizo Shimizu, the resulting “Frankenstein bait” strikes mortal fear in deep ranging bass. A larger and advanced diving bill sends the DXV-18 to 18-feet, even deeper with lighter braided lines. The bill’s unique curvature promises a quick plunge and straight run on the retrieve, too. The bill design also accommodates the snapping action associated with hard jerkbaits.
On the cast, you’ll appreciate how the DXV-18’s aerodynamic body – combined with the unique bill – considers air resistance to cast long, straight, and smooth. It’s casting distance and consistency attributes don’t end there, however. Ever Green cleverly installed both a fixed weight and transfer weight system. The fixed weight provides reliability, while the weight transfer system greatly enhances casting distance. The DXV-18’s size and hook configuration are equally as notable. At nearly 6-inches, the hardbait presents a generous target, the size of bait preferred by larger bass. Moreover, the added body length and heft combined with its unique looks make it ideal for fall and wintertime bass fishing – so, now.  While most conventional crankbaits sport only two treble hooks, Ever Green’s DXV-18 features a triplet of exceedingly sharp, #4 black nickel plated treble hooks. The added hook vastly improves hookup ratios, as fish are hung no matter where they attack the bait. Fished in the mid-layers amongst suspended fish, Ever Green says the DVX-18 yields a shimmying action reminiscent of a balsawood crankbait, but with significantly upped durability. On the bottom, the DVX-18 has a twisting action as it taps the bottom and navigates around obstacles.
Cosmetic detail is foundational on all Ever Green creations, and this accuracy is clear as day with the DVX-18. Grid-like scale patterns imbue authenticity and play with available light while on the move. Contoured gills unite with the bait’s signature eyeballs, which are accurate and pronounced. Said details can prove invaluable when the bait is paused in a jerkbait sequence.  The spectacularly colorized finishes complete the bait’s elevated stature. Multi-hue airbrushed treatments simulate the color transitions seen on real baitfish. No stark color changes, but rather fades in and out that smack of reality. And each of the 6 patterns is a proven winner from Japan to the lakes, rivers, and reservoirs of North America.
