It’s not terribly rare for a son or daughter to pick up the family trade, and to continue in the employment footsteps of a successful parent. It is pretty unique, however, when the family trade is professional bass fishing – and when not one but two siblings follow the path that was laid out by their dad, finding success of their own.

That’s one of many things that make the Robinsons of Landrum, South Carolina, unique in their own right. Major League Fishing (MLF) pro Marty Robinson came to the attention of bass-fishing fans in 2007, when he began competing at the sport’s highest national professional level. He was joined on the road by his wife Iris and their two boys (3-year-old Marshall and 1-year-old Mitchell).

Sixteen years later, Marshall Robinson qualified into the MLF Bass Pro Tour to fish alongside his dad. And in 2026, the youngest Robinson – now-20-year-old Mitchell Robinson – is competing in his first season on the Bass Pro Tour.

Fishing is clearly more than just “the family business” to the Robinsons – it’s a way of life that Marty, Iris, Marshall and Mitchell embrace with both arms.
