Largemouth Bass/Smallmouth Bass
The shad spawn has been kind of slow this year, as the weather has been up and down. The other factor affecting fishing is the extremely low lake levels. Fishing has still been pretty good with great catches showing up, just not a lot of trophy fish caught this time of year, meaning 8-plus-pound fish. Topwater, swimbaits, broken back swimmers, spinnerbaits, flukes, etc. are all productive on most days. Bright sunshine and no wind may slow the bite up a little due to the sun and slick water. During those times, target the same areas of flat points and rip rap with the same technique, as the shad spawn will mostly be in these areas. The action will become a little faster and more furious once the water temps reach the mid 70s and schools of bass will roam the shallows. Bluegills will become a specific target for larger fish this month as well.

Striped Bass
Stripers will still be running the banks early mornings or cloudy, rainy, windy days. Look for the bigger fish sometimes to be more shallow than the other smaller schools of fish. Quite a few fish have been caught recently in the shallows over 20lb mark. Swimbaits, flukes, and topwater can be great baits this time of year. Look for other schools to be 15-30 ft of long points, main lake pockets this month. Topwater can be found and will be fast and furious.

Crappie
Crappie will be found around larger docks and deep laydowns as they move in to their summer patterns. Try small jigs and minnows.
