Make the Most of Your Down Time!…. By Will Petty

Make the Most of Your Down Time!

By Will Petty

If you are anything like me, you are itching to get the 2012 tournament season underway.  Heck, some of us even fish tournaments straight through the winter.  Each winter, I take some time to really sit down with my equipment and make sure that it is in top notch order and to make sure I have enough of the hot baits in my box.  There is nothing worse than getting out on the water for the first event of the year only to find out that you lost the last Little John that you had in your favorite color. How many times have you bought a few extra baits or bags of worms because you couldn’t find them when you were on the water? By taking an inventory of your equipment, you also will save yourself some money in the long run.
Another thing I do in my down time is to photograph my ever increasing collection of tackle.  Take it from the guy who has had to completely replace his equipment two separate times, the insurance company is much easier to deal with when you have documented photos of what you had.
So next time you get one of those nasty weekends where you don’t feel like getting the boat wet, do yourself a favor and get organized!  I promise that it will make the whole season run smoother
