Saturday May 13, 2017 ~ Falls Lake ~ Ledge Rock Wildlife Ramp
The rain hit at checkin then moved out at blastoff for the Piedmont Bass Classics $10,000 Spring Team Bass Trail Qualifier #5 at Falls Lake! 74 teams enjoyed the 55 degrees in the am and the 74 in the pm. Water temps averaged
about 70 degrees. Winds for the day were just light & variable. Falls Lake is still showing that it’s one of the best fisheries for bass in North Carolina. Some bass are still on the bed and some are now off and hungry!! The water level was right at 255′, down quite a bit from a week ago!
Jaime Fajardo and John Yager (subbing for Josh Hooks) won the event weighing in 5 bass with an impressive 27.24 lbs. and also won the Tournament Within a Tournament (TWT) for a total of $2,780 in winnings. Fajardo will
also collect an additional $3,000 pending approval from the Skeeter Boats ‘Real Money’ Contingency Program which will bring their winnings to $5,780 !!!

Close to winning, Jeremy Martin & Jim Nichols wrapped up 2nd place with 5 fish weighing 26.70 lbs. and also took 2nd Place TWT to pocket $1,430. 3rd place team, Thanos Tsoumbos & Manley Jones (subbing for Mike Stephenson) , won $575 with 25.32 lbs. Big Fish for the day was caught by the team of Geno McCree & Rodney Hilber (7.36 lbs.) giving them a total of $1,008!! 2nd Place Big Fish was landed by the team of Rick Sossaman & Kyle Richardt (7.24 lbs.) paying them $630!!! The prize money got spread around pretty good today again!
293 fish were weighed in for a total of 1,020 pounds for an average of 3.48 lbs. each. Most of the fish were caught flipping creature baits, casting spinnerbaits, WLS shaky heads, buzzbaits, chatterbaits and crankbaits in anywhere
from 1 to 10 feet of water. Some were caught on Carolina rigs as well. Numerous bass in the 6 to 7 lb. range were brought to the scales.
