NORTH AUGUSTA HIGH SCHOOL WINS 2019 BASS PRO SHOPS FLW HIGH SCHOOL FISHING LAKE GUNTERSVILLE OPEN PRESENTED BY COSTA SUNGLASSES

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (Mar. 4, 2019) – The North Augusta High School duo of Nathan Boatwright, of Warrenville, South Carolina, and Dustin Williamson, of Aiken, South Carolina, brought a five-bass limit to the scale Saturday weighing 22 pounds, 10 ounces to win the 2019 Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Lake Guntersville Open presented by Costa Sunglasses.

A field of 76 teams competed in the no-entry fee tournament, which launched from Lake Guntersville State Park in Guntersville. The tournament was hosted by the Marshal County Convention & Visitors Bureau. In FLW and TBF High School Fishing competition, the top 10-percent of teams competing advance to the High School Fishing National Championship.

The top seven teams on Lake Guntersville that advanced to the 2019 High School Fishing National Championship were:

1st:       North Augusta High School, North Augusta, S.C. – Nathan Boatwright, Warrenville, S.C., and Dustin Williamson, Aiken, S.C., five bass, 22-10

2nd:      North Mississippi Student Anglers – Jake Kimbrough, Smithville, Miss., and Fisher Godfrey, Columbus, Miss., five bass, 21-14

3rd:       Kate Duncan Smith DAR School, Grant, Ala. – Hunter Santosuosso, New Hope, Ala., and Aiden Green, Grant, Ala., five bass, 20-5

4th:       Kate Duncan Smith DAR School, Grant, Ala. – Baylor Howell, Guntersville, Ala., and Koltyn Harbin, Scottsboro, Ala., five bass, 19-6

5th:       George Rogers Clark High School, Winchester, Ky. – Allen Powe and Alex Dunaway, both of Winchester, Ky., five bass, 19-2

6th:       Union County High School, Blairsville, Ga. – Will Harkins and Logan Anderson, both of Blairsville, Ga., five bass, 18-11

7th:       Buckhorn Bass Fishing – Cooper Shepard, Huntsville, Ala., and Brandon Walls, Huntland, Ala., five bass, 18-9

Rounding out the top 10 were:

8th:       Northside High School, Tuscaloosa County, Ala. – Lane Sanford and Grand Sanford, both of Northport, Ala., four bass, 17-3

9th:       Central High School, Santa Rosa County, Fla. – Joseph Lacoste and Darren McCall, both of Pace, Fla., five bass, 17-2

10th:     Bullitt Central High School, Shepherdsville, Ky. – Leah Parsley and Brianna Parsley, both of Lebanon Junction, Ky., four bass, 16-9

The 2019 Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Lake Guntersville Open was a two-person (team) event for students in grades 7-12, open to any Student Angler Federation (SAF) affiliated high school club in the United States. The top 10 percent of each Challenge, Open, and state championship field will advance to the 2019 High School Fishing National Championship on a body of water that has yet to be revealed. The High School Fishing national champions will each receive a $5,000 college scholarship to the school of their choice.

In addition to the High School Fishing National Championship, all High School Fishing anglers nationwide automatically qualify for the world’s largest open high school bass tournament, the 2019 High School Fishing World Finals, held in conjunction with the National Championship. At the 2018 World Finals more than $150,000 in scholarships and prizes were awarded.
