All you do is cast out, let your bait sink some, and swim it back. Basically, just a spinnerbait without the blades, but you must fish them both the same way. Cast into weeds, weed lines, cover, on a shelf, under or next to a structure, and even around tree stumps. These are the best spots to find fish patrolling. |

With this technique, all you really want to do is keep hopping your jig back to you. Generally want to hop 3 times in a row and pause for ten to fifteen seconds. Repeat this process until you catch a monster! Don’t cast in the open either… Toss into large grass areas, trees, or even under docks when you’re football jigging. |

This one can be a bit tricky at times, but you can easily get the hang of it with some practice. Mostly want to use this strategy during pre-spawn all the way through post-spawn. A lot of times you’ll have the fish in a bed just staring right at your jig with no reaction. That’s when you take the jig and whack it off the bottom making a nice vibration that entices the fish to react quickly with a bite. Make sure you practice this beforehand because it won’t work if it hits the bottom too soft. |
|
Keep in mind that most areas will have submerged weeds and rocks that will tear up your line so we always prefer using a braided line. You’ll want to use a fifty-pound line with a twenty-pound leader that is just about twenty inches long. We like to pair that with a seven-foot all-purpose rod and a bait caster reel that has a 6:4:1 gear ratio. |
