Virtually every angler has their own list of go-to gear, which always accompanies them upon every trip to the lake. For most, this list includes a quality pair of polarized sunglasses. Recently, one well-known eyewear manufacturer made a move to gain additional exposure among anglers, at the highest levels of competitive bass fishing.

Anglers who fish select tournament trails, while wearing Costa sunglasses, might now be eligible for sanctioned payouts. Last week, Costa announced the launch of their new Compete + Conserve program, a promotional series that offers cash bonuses to competing anglers, as well as their conservation agency of choice.

Registration for Costa’s Compete + Conserve program is free, with the ownership of Costa sunglasses being the only prerequisite for qualification. The highest placing angler per sanctioned event, who is registered within the program, will receive the above mentioned payouts. Costa only stipulates that an angler must be wearing their sunglasses in a visible manner, when at the weigh-in stage.

Anglers participating in the following tournament trails will be eligible for competitive entry.

Bassmaster Elite Series
Bassmaster Opens
Bassmaster College Series
Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour
MLF Big5 Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit
MLF Big5 Toyota Series
MLF Big5 College Series
Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open National

“Costa has a longstanding history in the bass fishing community, and we wanted to go even further to solidify that commitment to our tournament bass anglers. Coupled with the opportunity to give back to numerous conservation efforts, something that is part of our brand DNA, we jumped at the chance to create this program. To be able to support a crowd that has supported us over the years and to make a difference while doing it, creating the Costa Compete + Conserve Contingency program was a no-brainer for us.” said Costa pro & ambassador manager, Evan Russell.

While Costa states their intent to give back to the bass fishing community, it is also safe to say that the eyewear manufacturing giant will also stand to gain from their newly implemented program. After all, there are few better ways to gain brand exposure among anglers, than to provide the industry’s top pros with one more reason to wear your product when weighing in a hefty bag.

Will Costa’s Compete + Conserve program prove to be the marketing campaign of the century? While only time will tell, we are quite likely to see a few more pros sporting Costa shades in the months to come.
