|Tulsa, Okla. – Lowrance®, a world-leader in fishing electronics since 1957, announced today that Lowrance HDS chartplotter/fishfinders were used by 67% of the field at the Academy Sports + Outdoors B.A.S.S. Nation Championship presented by Magellan Outdoors at Alabama’s Pickwick Lake, including Randy Pierson who won the event.|
On the final day of the competition, Pierson hauled in 15 pounds, 8 ounces to finish with a total weight of 55 pounds, 11 ounces. From Oakdale, California, Pierson qualified through his local federation club, Oro Madre Bass Anglers in the Western Division of the B.A.S.S. Nation Federation. For winning the event, Pierson received an invitation to the Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods. He also received an invitation to fish the 2019 Bassmaster Elite Series, $16,000 toward entry fees paid entry fees for the 2019 Basspro.com Bassmaster Opens Series division of his choice, and the use of a fully rigged Phoenix® boat for the year. Pierson also won a Nitro Z20, custom trailer with Mercury® outboard, Minn Kota® trolling motor and Lowrance electronics.
The championship is the only international competition of its kind for bass club anglers. Competing were qualifiers from 47 states and 10 foreign nations, including Canada, Mexico, Australia, Japan, Portugal, France, Italy, Zimbabwe, Namibia and the Republic of South Africa.
