🎣 Unlock Your Fishing Potential: Meet Overtex, the Game-Changing Line of 2025! 🚀

0
A Japanese Domestic Product (JDM) product that also launched in the United States in 2025. Overtex was developed from the Sunline’s high-end bass line, Shooter. The original Shooter formula features 100% fluorocarbon with ultra-low stretch, high sensitivity and extreme abrasion resistance. That formula is taken to a new level with Sunline’s proprietary Plasma Rise Technology. The unique Plasma Rise Technology applied to Overtex was developed specifically for this product to change the surface of the line forming a glassy polymer layer on the surface of the line at a molecular level. This treated surface improves abrasion resistance and extends the durability of the line itself, allowing it to maintain peak performance for longer use. Overtex is equipped with a repeating, metered color pattern of clear, green, orange and red. The primary line is clear, and has repeated markings added to every yard for green, five yards for orange and ten yards for red. This allows anglers to tie on a lure in one of the clear sections and have the ability to see the line clearly with the metered colors no matter what the surroundings. Overtex features parallel spooling which is a precision winding method that reduces kinks and surface irregularities. The line moves straight when taken off the spool and the surface is excellent.

Stocking in Time for Stockings

Stocking in Time for Stockings
Now available, DAIWA’s versatile 2025 TATULA X TW 100 baitcaster offers legacy TATULA performance at a price that’s right for the times
FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (October 31, 2025) – We’ve talked about “trickledown technology” before. But given recent revelations in the TATULA assortment, a refresher is in order…In DAIWA-speak, trickledown technology means sharing features and innovations with less expensive models that were once reserved for the upper crust. Through manufacturing efficiencies, these elements trickle down to less expensive models, the top-shelf models taking on novel design advancements and characteristics that didn’t exist before – inventions. But that’s not to say the established technologies are now obsolete. In fact, quite the opposite. Now they’re now just more affordable…Consider the new 2025 TATULA X TW 100, the least expensive model in the TATULA reel family. It maintains the series’ key genetic building blocks and is priced with a sharpened pencil. “It’s a pretty special baitcaster at its price – really, any price,” said DAIWA Field Marketing Manager, Chris Martin.
The centerpiece of the new TATULA X TW 100 is DAIWA’s storied HYPERDRIVE System, previously found on only more expensive models. “Our HYPERDRIVE System is a suite of advanced technologies that enhance overall performance, durability, and smoothness,” said Martin. “It starts with our HYPER Armed Housing – a durable, lightweight, precision tooled, and corrosion-resistant aluminium frame and sideplates that provide a forcefield for our famous HYPDERDRIVE DIGIGEAR.”HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR grants a three point interaction between the pinion and drive gear to provide continuous gear contact, spread the load to eliminate chatter, and extend the life of the reel. Besides the TATULA X TW 100, three-point gear contacts are otherwise unheard of at this price. The new TATULA X TW 100 also features DAIWA’s iconic and patented T-Wing System (TWS), which was introduced over two decades ago and remains the industry benchmark, never bested. “The T-Wing mechanism lets line flow freely on both the cast and retrieve,” said Martin. “It’s very cool to now offer T-Wing at such a comfortable price.”
A jack-of-all-trades and master-of-them-all, Martin says the TATULA X TW 100 is an adaptable, general purpose baitcasting reel. “It can be used for everything from shallow cranking and bladebaits to topwaters and pitching jigs. And DAIWA offers the reel in three gear ratios, too, so you can drill down into lure groups and techniques.”Martin suggests the lower 6.3:1 gear ratio for shallow running crankbaits, squarebills, Texas-rigs, and other soft plastics. He says the 7.1:1 midrange, multipurpose gearing is good for ChatterBaits, swimbaits, and topwaters. And Martin endorses the higher speed 8.1:1 gearing for surface frogs, buzzbaits, swimbaits, punching, and other techniques that require a fast intake of line.Martin closed by saying, “At a time when you stare into the shopping cart and question what you get for your money, inside one small box, the new TATULA X TW 100 promises your money’s worth.”MSRP 149.99
TATULA X TW 100 FEATURES:
HYPERDRIVE ARMED HOUSING and SIDEPLATESA distortion-proof aluminum frame that securely encases the gear unit within the reel body. This robust housing ensures the gears remain precisely aligned, enhancing the reel’s performance, durability, and longevity under stress.
HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEARAn advanced DAIWA technology that makes gear teeth more efficient at transferring power from the handle to the spool, resulting in a smoother, more powerful gear set that also reduces gear noise. The gears are also strengthened by larger teeth in the traction wheel. HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR also features three points of contact – most gearing has only two – which maintains constant contact between the gear teeth, resulting in a smoother operation, improved cranking power, and longer gear life.HYPERDRIVE TOUGH CLUTCH DAIWA’s redeveloped and reinforced clutch mechanism is engineered to be more durable, stronger, and more reliable than previous versions, ensuring consistent performance even under heavy use or harsh conditions, such as saltwater fishing. It provides a crisp and satisfying engagement with an audible click and is designed to withstand thousands of casts without failure.
T-WING SYSTEM (TWS)DAIWA’s innovative “T” shaped mechanical aperture that the line passes through when casting and retrieving allows the line to flow freely, reducing friction and sharp angles that slow line flow. When the clutch is disengaged for casting, TWS pivots to a wide, open position, allowing line to spool off with minimal friction to reduce backlashes and enable longer, more accurate casts. During retrieval, TWS pivots back to a narrower position, guiding the line evenly onto the spool to prevent tangling and ensure consistent packing for subsequent casts.ZERO ADJUSTERThe spool tension knob comes ideally preset at the factory to match the model and reduce backlash when casting into the wind, skipping baits, or with lighter lures. However, anglers can fine tune the spool tension to their personal preferences. LC (Long Cast) ConceptDAIWA’s LC Concept focuses on enhancing casting distance through a specialized spool design, reduced friction, and optimized braking. The casting system prioritizes lightweight construction, large spool diameters, and specific spool geometries to maximize casting efficiency, especially during the final stages of the cast, and is engineered for use with midsized to large lures. ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT DRAG (UTD)An advanced drag system designed to provide smooth, consistent, and powerful drag performance. UTD employs a super high-density woven carbon drag washer system impregnated with specially designed grease. This results in minimal startup inertia, smooth drag efficiency, and reduced risk of line breakage or hook pull during sudden strikes. UTD allows for setting higher drag pressures without compromising smoothness or risking line failure. MAGFORCE ZA dynamic braking system, which uses a movable inductor rotor that adjusts its position relative to the magnetic field based on spool speed. At high spool speeds (e.g., during the initial cast), the rotor moves closer to the magnets, increasing the brake force to prevent overrun and backlash. As the spool slows, the rotor retracts, reducing brake force for longer casts. The spool features straight walls, allowing higher line capacity for heavier lines and bigger baits.100mm SWEPT HANDLEDesigned to enhance cranking power, comfort, and aesthetics, DAIWA’s signature curved handle shape improves ergonomics, providing better leverage and a more comfortable grip compared to standard straight handles.
THE PERFECT PAIRINGPretty easy picking a rod when it shares the same spidery TATULA mark. And it makes financial sense when they share the same $149.99 retail price. Yes, that would be DAIWA’s TATULA Bass Rod series. The 28 model series include 18 technique-specific baitcasters, simplifying the selection process. The noticeably lightweight TATULA Bass Rods sport a cork split-grip for control and casting power, while the exposed blank section supplies sensitivity. The rod’s premier Fuji K-Series guides are constructed of Fazlite – a new guide material with excellent hardness, conductivity, and bend strength. The blank is designed with DAIWA’s X45 with Bias Wrap Construction, which radically improves rod strength and durability by eliminating twist and preventing the blank from losing its round form. The elimination of this twist allows for a lighter, stronger, more powerful, and sensitive rod.

More than 350 bass anglers set to compete for top prize of up to $235,000 + REDCREST qualification in 2025 Toyota Series finale

GROVE, Okla. (Oct. 30, 2025) – The 2025 Toyota Series Championship at Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees Presented by Phoenix Boats is headed to Grove, Oklahoma, next week, Nov. 6-8, where the nation’s best Toyota Series pros and international qualifiers will compete for a top award of up to $235,000 cash, including the lucrative $35,000 Phoenix MLF Bonus, and a coveted invitation to REDCREST 2026 – Major League Fishing’s most prestigious event.

Hosted by the City of Grove and the Grove Convention & Tourism Bureau, the three-day, no-entry-fee showdown caps off the 2025 Toyota Series Presented by Phoenix Boats season, a five-division circuit that launches anglers toward the 2026 Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit and ultimately the Bass Pro Tour.

“We’re incredibly excited to host the 2025 Toyota Series Championship on Grand Lake,” said Brent Malone, Executive Director of the Grove Convention and Tourism Bureau. “It’s an honor to welcome anglers and fans from around the world to experience Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees, and we’re ready to roll out the red carpet for them. Anytime we get to showcase one of the best fisheries in the United States – along with one of the finest facilities and a community that truly loves fishing – it’s a special opportunity. Major League Fishing has become a tremendous partner to our city, and we’re always thrilled to host their events.”

In addition to the top award of up to $235,000, the signature fall championship will deliver five-figure payouts to the highest finishers in each division, while showcasing international qualifiers who’ve earned their shot to compete stateside. The storied championship continues to open doors for anglers worldwide, providing advancement pathways that amplify their platforms and extend their impact across the sport.

Missouri pro Andy Newcomb of Camdenton, Missouri, enters next week’s Toyota Series Championship with confidence and a sense that everything might be lining up just right.

“I’m really excited,” Newcomb said. “I feel like this is definitely the best chance I’ve had so far in my career at a big, big win. You never know how it’s going to line up, but I feel better about this one. And who knows when I’ll feel this good about a big tournament again.”

Newcomb has a good history on Grand Lake this time of year. The veteran angler has posted multiple top-10 finishes on the famed Oklahoma reservoir in late fall events, thanks in part to his strength fishing shallow-water patterns.

“I’ve been here a couple times this time of year, and I’ve done well,” he said. “I think I finished in the top 10 in both of the tournaments I fished on Grand. I’m hoping that there’s a shallow-water, topwater, spinnerbait or flipping kind of bite. That would be ideal for me.”

While forward-facing sonar will undoubtedly play a role, Newcomb believes plenty of quality bass will still be caught the old-fashioned way.

“There’ll definitely be a good portion of the fish that are caught up shallow,” he said. “And that’s what’s got me excited. Water conditions could make all the difference.”

Recent forecasts show surface temperatures hovering between 69 and 72 degrees, but Newcomb expects things to cool off by tournament week.

“If the kind of weather pattern we have now holds out, it’s going to be in the low 60s, which is money,” he explained. “It always gets funky around 65 to 70 (degrees). But if we get temps under 65 – low 60s to upper 50s – that’s when it gets good.”

Newcomb said weights will likely depend on the weather that rolls through northeastern Oklahoma over the next week.

“I think if we get some bad weather, guys will be weighing in 18-plus a day,” Newcomb said. “But I think if we get a couple days like we’ve got right now, sunny skies and a little bit post-frontal, I think we’ll see a lot of limits in the 16- to 17-pound range.”

“Now, if we get a real nasty day, it could be way different,” he added. “I fished here previously in November, and it was nasty – blowing rain, all that. And I don’t know how many 20-plus-pound bags there were. I think there were a couple that were 26-pound bags. If that water gets below 65 and those fish start feeding, and then we get one of those nasty days, it could be a completely different lake.”

Anglers will take off daily at 7 a.m. CT from Wolf Creek Park, located at 963 N. 16th Street, in Grove. Weigh-ins will be held at the park and will begin at 3 p.m. Fans are welcome to attend the daily takeoffs and weigh-ins and also follow the action online through daily “MLF Live” weigh-in broadcasts and daily coverage at MajorLeagueFishing.com.

Final round on-the-water action will also be broadcast live on MLFNOW! and streamed to MajorLeagueFishing.com, the MLF app, MyOutdoorTV (MOTV) and Rumble. The 2025 Toyota Series Championship Presented by Phoenix Boats will air on VICE Sports January 4 and January 11, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET.

The full field of anglers will compete on Days 1 and 2, with the top 25 pros and top 25 co-anglers based on cumulative weight from the first two days continuing to the third and final day. The 2025 Toyota Series champions will be determined by the heaviest three-day total weight.

Pros and co-anglers can qualify for multiple contingency awards based on final standings in the championship, including the lucrative $35,000 Phoenix MLF Bonus for pros. The winning co-angler will earn a new Phoenix 518 Pro bass boat with a 115-horsepower outboard motor.

The 2025 Toyota Series Presented by Phoenix Boats consisted of five divisions – Central, Northern, Plains, Southern and Southwestern – each holding three regular-season events, along with the International division and the Wild Card. The highest finishing pro from each division at the championship will claim a $10,000 bonus. The bonus will go to the second-highest finishing pro in the division represented by the overall champion.

The 2025 Toyota Series Championship field features the top 25 pros, top 25 co-anglers and tournament winners from each of the five divisions; the top 25 pros and 25 co-anglers from the Wild Card division plus tournament winners; the highest finishing boater and co-angler from each Phoenix Bass Fishing League Presented by T-H Marine Regional and the TBF at the All-American; the top three teams from the College Fishing National Championship; High School Fishing National Champions; TBF National Champions; and MLF International anglers from Canada, Eswatini, Italy, Mexico, Mozambique, Namibia, Spain, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
