We brought you a story a while back about Shane McKee’s Tennessee state record spotted bass. Well now another Tennessee angler holds a spotted bass record, only this one didn’t erase McKee’s record, but rather both now have record spotted bass in Tennessee. Chris Coleman caught a 6-pound, 1-ounce spotted bass in 2011, that is now being recognized by the TWRA as a northern-strain spotted bass record for the state of Tennessee.

Jacob Powroznik carried his big blue first place Bassmaster Elite Series trophy across the boat ramp parking lot at Toledo Bend on Sunday evening, placed it securely in his Tundra, and grinned, “Okay boys, let’s head to the Toyota Texas Bass Classic – I love that event.”
Thanks to his registration in the LEER Cover Cash program, “J Pow” has $500 cash to buy all the boat gas needed to practice and compete on famed Lake Fork once he gets there.

Reel Drag Bass Anglers Kerr Results – 5-4-14

Lake Anna Lake Report – May 2014 by Chris Craft
BASS– The largemouth will be in all 3 phases of the spawn this month. With the cooler than average April, it has taken a while for the bass to get their act together. Look for them around boat docks, emerging willow grass, shallow rocks & lay down trees. Up lake, visibility will be nearly zero and we have a good stain at mid lake, down lake is still very clear even after having 5″ or more of rain fall on the lake and the run off bringing the lake up about 18″ high early last week.
The top water bite has started and good fish are being caught every day. Walking baits like my favorite, the Paycheck Baits Repoman will catch them for you. Zara Spooks and the new Damiki rambler are also great choices. Soft jerk baits like the North Anna Bait Company CC Minnow and Zoom Super Flukes are deadly! Fish the soft jerk baits in the emerging willow grass and skip them underneath boat docks. Sometimes you may need to DEAD STICK them in order to draw a strike. Tiger Shad Spinnerbaits continue to fill live wells uplake in the willow grass beds. After the sun gets high and the fish move deeper into the shadows, it is hard to beat a Shakey Head rigged plastic worm. The NABC Ring Shaker and Zoom Trick Worms are my favorites. Great color choices are Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Seed and Watermelon Red. If you are fishing for bedding bass and are not in a tournament please release these fish back on their bed after a quick photo session. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
CRAPPIE– After the last rain storm, the crappie fishing has slowed down a bit. Uplake is muddy and almost unfishable at the current time. The water clarity will get better as the month goes on and there will be fish willing to bite. They are pretty much finished with their spawn and are moving back out to deep water brush piles, boat docks and bridge pilings. Best ways to catch them is with a small minnow rigged on a slip bobber or with a 2″ curly tail grub on a 1/16oz jig head.
