Matt Jennings & Mark London win CATT Tidewater May 11,2019 with 23.10 lbs

Next up is the Tidewater Final May 26th at the Pasquatank River launching from Waterfront Park! We have 32 teams eligible to enter the Tidewater Final and over $1,200.00 in the Tidewater Final Fund! If at least 25 of the 32 teams enter we’ll have a purse over $5,000.00 up for grabs!

Guys for our 1st time being in the area the Trail has done great thanks to Matt & Dawn Jennings! Help up spread the word and let your friends know about the next CATT Trail in your area!

The North River did not disappoint this past Saturday! The morning blast off was met with clear conditions and a whole lot of mosquitos! I’m pretty sure after yesterday that the mosquito should be the official county bird. At the end of the day the North River showed out big time with everyone who came to the scales weighing a 5 fish limit. Multiple teams reported catching as many as 50 fish. Coming out at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the day were the team of Matt Jennings and Mark London with 23lbs 10oz anchored by a 6lb 10oz big fish. A very close second was the team of Anthony Shawler and Lloyd Sanderlin with 23lbs 7oz with the a 6lb 6oz lunker. Jeff and Derek Hayden brought in 18lbs 9oz to the scales for third place. The fourth place of Ian Vandyke and Larry Haywod had a healthy weight of 18lbs 7oz to finish out the payday. Congratulations to Jeremy Gatewood and Jared Allbritten for finishing the season as our points champion and earning a free entry to the division championship on the Pasquotank River May 26th. Anyone who has fished at least one of the CATT tidewater division tournaments this year is eligible to fish the division championship on the Pasquotank. We would like to say thanks to everyone who chose to come out and fish with us in our inaugural season. We would look forward to seeing you at the divisional championship!

Josh Whitford & Tyler Ivey Win PBC ACADEMY SPORTS & OUTDOORS SPRING TEAM BASS TRAIL QUALIFIER #6 May 11th, 2019

PBC ACADEMY SPORTS & OUTDOORS SPRING TEAM BASS TRAIL QUALIFIER #6
Saturday May 11th, 2019 ~  ~ Jordan Lake ~ ~ Farrington Point Wildlife Ramp

[print_link]

Bad weather forecast, Graduation Day and Mother’s Day!!. It did affect the turnout a little but the weather did not affect us a bit. It started sprinkling just a little right after all the festivities were over at about 4pm. A good turnout of 67 boats fished the PBC Academy Sports & Outdoors $10K Spring Team Bass Trail Qualifier #6 at Jordan. Surface water temps averaged 78 degrees and the winds ranged from 5 to 7 mph. Air temps were 67  in the am and 76 in the pm. The lake level is now back to normal and the bass are now post spawn and getting fat feeding very well on the shad.

First time PBC winners, Josh Whitford (L) & Tyler Ivey, caught 5 good bass weighing a total of 28.31 lbs., which included a

7.26 pounder, to take 1st Place & 1st Place TWT for a total of  $2,651 in prize money!

The 2nd Place team of Thomas Sheffer & Rob Cable (subbing for regular team member Ken McNeill) caught 5 bass weighing 26.34 lbs. and also took Big Fish honors with a good 8.67 pounder!! They also won 2nd Place TWT to pocket $2,313 in winnings. The 3rd Place Team of Jaime Fajardo & Josh Hooks weighed a 5 fish total of 26.24 lbs. to give them $536 in winnings. 2nd Place Big Fish (8.29 lbs.) was won by the team of Mark Hudson & James Hastings for $924 Money got spread around good today again and the scores were close!

253 bass were brought to the scales and 48 of the 67 teams had their limit! The bite is good at Jordan at this time. The bass, for the most part, have spawned and are feeding heavily on shad. The topwater bite has also improved.Jigs, Pop R’s, Buzzbaits, crankbaits & spinnerbaits in the more shallow 2 to 10′ of water seemed to be the lures of choice. Look for the shad!!

I want to thank Academy Sports & Outdoors along with all our other sponsors and all the anglers that participated. Our next tournament will be the Hart’s Custom Sets~~Cashion Fishing Rods Spring 5K Trail Championship for
qualified teams only, Saturday May 18th at Falls Lake out of Ledge Rock Wildlife Ramp. This will not be an open event and is for qualified teams only!! Spectators are welcome!!

HODGES’ BURROUGHS WINS T-H MARINE FLW BASS FISHING LEAGUE TOURNAMENT ON LAKE HARTWELL

HODGES’ BURROUGHS WINS T-H MARINE FLW BASS FISHING LEAGUE TOURNAMENT ON LAKE HARTWELL

Greenville’s Carter Grabs Co-Angler Honors

[print_link]

ANDERSON, S.C. (May 13, 2019) – Boater Jason Burroughs of Hodges, South Carolina, brought five bass to the scale Saturday weighing 16 pounds even win the T-H Marine FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) Savannah River Division tournament on Lake Hartwell. For his efforts, Burroughs was awarded $3,572.

“I caught them targeting the blueback herring spawn,” said Burroughs, who earned his third career victory on Lake Hartwell in BFL competition. “It’s the very, very tail end of their spawn. The bite was extremely good in April, but it’s gotten tough. There’s only a few of us trying to do it and its fading fast.”

Burroughs said he focused on shallow red clay points and small pebble rock points, fishing mid-lake from near Andersonville Island to the dam. He estimated that he made 70 stops and that his fish came from less than 3 feet of water.

“I caught the majority of my keepers on a [½-ounce, brown-colored] Buckeye Lures Mop Jig with a [3½-inch, green-pumpkin] Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw trailer,” said Burroughs. “I also caught some on a topwater in the same areas. I’d throw the topwater up over the point first, and if they didn’t hit it, I went with the jig on the bottom.”

Burroughs said his topwater lure of choice was a chrome-colored IMA Little Stick 135 Walking Bait.

“I didn’t catch a ton of fish – only about 13 all day. I think I weighed three on the jig and two on the stick – all largemouth.”

The top 10 boaters finished the tournament in:

1st:          Jason Burroughs, Hodges, S.C., five bass, 16-0, $3,572

2nd:         Jayme Rampey, Liberty, S.C., five bass, 13-6, $1,561

3rd:          Justin Singleton, Milledgeville, Ga., five bass, 13-5, $1,043

4th:          Darren Ashley, Calhoun Falls, S.C., five bass, 12-9, $728

5th:          Travis Weathers, Seneca, S.C., five bass, 10-14, $624

6th:          Matthew Justice, Fair Play, S.C., five bass, 10-13, $572

7th:          Jerry Morgan, Inman, S.C., five bass, 10-9, $520

8th:          Bobby McDonald, Easley, S.C., five bass, 10-8, $692

8th:          Randy Childers, Anderson, S.C., five bass, 10-8, $542

10th:        Mick Rhinehart, Greenville, S.C., five bass, 10-5, $364

Eddie Whiten Jr. of Easley, South Carolina, caught a 4-pound, 11-ounce bass – the heaviest of the event in the Boater Division – and earned the day’s Boater Big Bass award of $375.

Jonathan Carter of Greenville, South Carolina, won the Co-angler Division and $1,561 Saturday after catching five bass weighing 14 pounds, 1 ounce.

1st:          Jonathan Carter, Greenville, S.C., five bass, 14-1, $1,561

2nd:         Joe Anders, Easley, S.C., five bass, 12-4, $981

3rd:          Thomas Healan, Jefferson, Ga., five bass, 10-3, $521

4th:          Markice Johnson, Thomson, Ga., five bass, 8-12, $414

5th:          Tucker Souther, Brevard, N.C., five bass, 8-7, $312

6th:          Jeremy Winn, Seneca, S.C., five bass, 8-6, $286

7th:          Joshua Lyko, Greer, S.C., five bass, 8-5, $260

8th:          Ronnie Cutshall, Piedmont, S.C., five bass, 8-3, $421

9th:          Keith Stills, Locust, N.C., five bass, 7-6, $208

10th:        Justin Logan, Belton, S.C., five bass, 7-5, $182

Cutshall caught the heaviest bass in the Co-angler Division, a fish weighing in at 3 pounds, 10 ounces. The catch earned him the day’s Co-angler Big Bass award of $187.

The tournament was hosted by the Anderson Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The top 45 boaters and co-anglers in the region based on point standings, along with the five winners in each qualifying event, will be entered in the Oct. 10-12 BFL Regional Championship on Lake Seminole in Bainbridge, Georgia. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger Z518L with a 200-horsepower outboard and $20,000, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger Z518L with a 200-horsepower outboard.

The 2019 BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 128 tournaments throughout the season, five qualifying events in each division. The top 45 boaters and co-anglers from each division, along with the five winners of the qualifying events, will advance to one of six regional tournaments where they are competing to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American. The 2019 BFL All-American will be held May 30-June 1 at the Potomac River in Marbury, Maryland, and is hosted by the Charles County Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism and the Commissioners of Charles County. Top performers in the BFL can move up to the Costa FLW Series or even the FLW Tour.

[print_link]

Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchors announced that it will become the presenting sponsor for the inaugural Camp Mack Big Fish Tournament. This annual, year-round competition will target largemouth bass and black crappie in the Chain of Lakes watershed between Lake Tohopekaliga and Lake Kissimmee. The tournament is open to all members of the Camp Mack Bass Fishing Team. Tournament registration is free using the popular iAngler Tournament app available for iOS and Android devices, and comes with automatic team membership.

The official start of the Big Fish Tournament is Saturday, May 4 to coincide with the Toho Marine Elite Team Series competition. Anglers can register at any time during the year to join the tournament. Any catch within the Big Fish Tournament fishing boundaries can qualify, even if caught while participating in another tournament. The grand prize for the heaviest single fish in each category will be an 8’ Power-Pole Pro II Shallow Water Anchor. Monthly winners will also be recognized in the Guy Harvey Outpost’s Outfitter Store.

“As a company so dedicated to top-of-class fishing performance, we’re truly excited Power Pole has joined us in establishing the Big Fish Tournament on the Kissimmee Chain,” Guy Harvey Outpost president Mark Ellert said. “Our year-long tournament isn’t about luck, it’s about fishing often, and always with an edge. That’s a Power Pole, and for winning the Big Fish competition, a truly fitting grand prize.”

At the end of the year, Camp Mack will recognize four outstanding members of the Camp Mack Fishing Team in its Hall of Fame, including both category winners of the Big Fish Tournament. Two additional inductees will be selected among members, friends and guests of Camp Mack based on contributions to the sport, the promotion of good sportsmanship, and the protection of our resources. Candidates may be nominated through the Camp Mack website.

HERRON AND RUTLAND TIE FOR WIN AT T-H MARINE FLW BASS FISHING LEAGUE TOURNAMENT ON LAY LAKE

HERRON AND RUTLAND TIE FOR WIN AT T-H MARINE FLW BASS FISHING LEAGUE TOURNAMENT ON LAY LAKE

Co-Angler Title Goes to Anniston’s Corbett

COLUMBIANA, Ala. (May 13, 2019) – Boaters Dusty Herron of Alabaster, Alabama, and Chris Rutland of Wetumpka, Alabama, each caught five bass Saturday weighing 16 pounds even to tie for the win at the T-H Marine FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) Bama Division tournament on Lay Lake. After contingency awards, Rutland earned $3,435, while Herron took home $2,435.

“I changed up my strategy a little bit because of how many boats were around. Everyone was fishing points, so I knew I needed to try something different if I wanted to win,” said Herron, who earned his first win FLW competition. “Basically I found them super shallow in really scattered out grass. I was on the lower end of the lake toward Mitchell Dam. I knew what they were on, so I went around looking for the same kind of stuff. They were definitely spread out – probably 15 different places.”

Herron said he threw a white custom swim-jig with a custom worm trailer of the same color. He caught nine keepers – including two bass over 5 pounds – and culled four times.

Rutland said he fished main-lake grass points on the south end of the lake until around mid-morning, then flipped boat docks the rest of the day, catching approximately 25 keepers in the process.

“I hit a bunch of points – more than 20 – and was targeting fish in 2 to 4 feet of water,” said Rutland, who earned his third career victory in BFL competition – second on Lay Lake. “I weighed three largemouth from the points and then two spotted bass from the docks. They were also on the south end and about halfway back in the creeks.”

Rutland said he used a 5-inch, Alewife-colored Big Bite Baits Dean Rojas Cane Thumper on a Gamakatsu belly weight hook and a green-pumpkin ½-ounce Davis’ Baits Wood Jig with a Big Bite Baits Real Deal Craw trailer of the same color.

CELINA, Ohio (May 13, 2019) – Boater Scott Manson of Covington, Ohio, brought five bass to the scale Saturday weighing 13 pounds, 4 ounces, to take top honors at the T-H Marine FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) Buckeye Division opener on Grand Lake-St. Mary’s presented by Navionics. For his efforts, Manson netted $4,046.

“I was fishing rocks, boat docks and a little bit of weeds on the south side of the lake, mid-way down the lake,” said Manson, who notched his third win in BFL competition – second on Grand Lake-St. Marys. “I was in a couple of creeks. I had multiple areas, but most of the fish came out of those creeks.”

Manson said he caught six keepers – five of them on a black and blue-colored D&L jig with a Zoom Super Chunk Jr. trailer. The other, which he weighed, came on a Texas-rigged, green-pumpkin Netbait Paca Craw.

“I’d switch back and forth between the two. Working it slowly was the key– just taking my time and hitting everything I could,” said Manson. “It was cold and windy so I knew it would be tough.”

Manson said his equipment included 7-foot, 6-inch medium-heavy Elite Series Black and Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Signature Series Casting rods and Abu Garcia Revo Rocket and Bass Pro Shops Pro qualifier reels.

“I’ve got to mention my Nitro Z21 boat and Mercury outboard motor as well – it’s a very efficient motor, and the Nitro is a great boat to fish out of,” said Manson. “I also need to thank Freedom Outdoors here in Ohio, they get me everything I need to get out there and compete.”
