The Power (Fishing) of Braid (Seaguar)

The Power (Fishing) of Braid

The What, When, and Where of Fishing Low-Vis Braid to Up Your Big Bass Odds

Louisville, KY (March 7, 2019) – If you’re like a lot of anglers, then you frequently wonder about the what, when, and where of fishing braid over monofilament or fluorocarbon on big bass waters. You’re not alone. Choosing the right line for the presentation and application is indeed a large part of the big fish formula.

That said, we caught up with Alabama-based pro bass angler Mark Daniels Jr. while prepping for the biggest bass tournament on the planet, the upcoming Bassmaster Classic in Knoxville, Tennessee. Like a lot of other anglers, he was carefully considering how he was going to fish and what line was best for dozens of baitcasting reels he was busy spooling with various Seaguar line.

For the sake of this piece, Daniels focuses purely on power fishing techniques with baitcasting gear but is quick to mention that Seaguar braid has become standard on his finesse spinning gear, too, typically with a fluorocarbon leader.

“First, let’s talk about the line itself. It’s my opinion that Seaguar Smackdown Braid—whether it’s Hi-Vis Green or Low-Vis Stealth Gray—is bar none the best casting line out there. It’s smoothness is unparalleled and it’s incredibly symmetrical, very round, and that’s where you get the smoothness from. It’s not grinding in your guides, which for me is a big turn-off, because I feel like a lot of times other lines can damage your rods. But you don’t have that with the Seaguar Smackdown Braid—it’s an eight-strand woven braid, the basis of that symmetry, and why it just fishes smooth and casts great,” says Daniels.

When it comes to techniques, Daniels says he’s fishing braid more and more all the time, especially now that there’s a low visibility option in Seaguar Low-Vis Stealth Gray Braid. From topwaters to flipping, to ripping Rat-L-Traps through grass, as well as chatterbaits and swimjigs, he says the majority of the rods and reels on the deck of his boat are spooled these days with Seaguar braid.

“As far as the applications go, there are a host of techniques where braid excels. I’m a guy, anytime I’m fishing a topwater, I’ve got Seaguar Smackdown Low-Vis Stealth Gray braid on. Years past, I used to use a lot of monofilament with topwaters, but in my opinion, monofilament’s pretty much obsolete. The little bit I do have laying around the house I use as filler backing whenever I’m putting some different line on top. I’m not using it whatsoever. But topwaters, absolutely, braid is my choice. Whether it’s a walking-style bait, a frog, a buzzbait, my go-to set-up is going to be the Stealth Gray. With my walking-style baits like a popper or a Zara Spook, I’m going to go with 40-lb. braid; with my frogs and buzzbaits—any big baits where I’m liable to encounter a lot of heavy cover – or I might be throwing a big wake bait or a rat—I’m going to go with the 50-lb. Stealth Gray.”

He continues: “Other applications to use Smackdown Low-Vis Stealth Gray braid include flipping in heavy cover where the water may be a bit more clear than normal, but it’s still too thick to feel comfortable with fluorocarbon. 50-lb. test would be my recommendation. It just blends into the environment; camouflages really well. So you’re able to maintain a stealthy approach.”

Daniels is also a big fan of braid for the highly-specialized technique of ripping Rat-L-Traps through the grass, like what anglers encounter on waters like Sam Rayburn and Lake Guntersville, but is certainly an approach that will work on other grass-populated waters coast to coast.

“There are some situations when I’ll throw a Rat-L-Trap on braid. My recommendation there is 40-lb. Low-Vis Stealth Gray Smackdown. With this technique you’re making super long casts and without braid you can’t get that bait to pop out of the grass and trigger a strike like you need to. So that’s  a situation when I’d go with braid, but you want to make sure you’re using a softer rod because we all know with those treble hooks you can lose a lot of fish with the technique.”

Akin to that is Daniels’ approach to fishing chatterbaits in areas with heavy grass.

“If the grass is really thick, like on Okeechobee or Toho, I’ll use braid instead of fluorocarbon with a chatterbait. I need the action of the chatterbait on a long cast, which braid necessitates, and as soon as it encounters grass I need to get it out of that grass. Smackdown will keep it tracking true so I can get that bite.”

Daniels is also open to sharing an under-the-radar technique that’s won him a lot of money over the years, and that’s fishing swim jigs in a unique way that also makes braid a perfect choice.

“I’ll also use braid with a swim jig. I’ll fish a swim jig probably different than a lot of anglers; I I put them way back in the nasty, thick stuff and almost hop ‘em like a frog, just a little bit sub-surface and work through a lot of thick vegetation. It’s a technique I absolutely love to fish around lily pads, any kind of water vegetation like water hyacinth, water primrose, water willow—there are so many different kinds of grasses that live in these lakes—but I’ll swim a jig through that stuff constantly popping it and 50 lb. Smackdown Low-Vis Stealth Gray is definitely my go-to line for this.”

Looking forward to the Bassmaster Classic, Daniels says he definitely hopes the fish are coming along in the pre-spawn stage and the relentless rain and flooding quits to give anglers some stable conditions on the water. Whatever the case, know that Daniels will be pre-fishing soon and guarantees he’ll be fishing techniques where Seaguar’s new Smackdown Low-Vis Stealth Gray braid will undoubtedly come into play.

ALABAMA’S SETZER LEADS DAY ONE OF FLW TOUR AT LAKE SEMINOLE PRESENTED BY COSTA

ALABAMA’S SETZER LEADS DAY ONE OF FLW TOUR AT LAKE SEMINOLE PRESENTED BY COSTA

Three Anglers Bring 25+ Pound Limits to the Scale

[print_link]

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (March 7, 2019) – Pro Braxon Setzer of Montgomery, Alabama, brought a five-bass limit to the scale weighing 25 pounds, 15 ounces to jump out to the early lead after Day One of the FLW Tour at Lake Seminole presented by Costa. Fellow Alabaman Joseph Webster of Winfield (25-9) and Bradford Beavers of Summerville, South Carolina (25-2) are right behind Setzer in second and third place as the four-day tournament, which features 165 of the world’s best bass-fishing professionals casting for a top award of up to $125,000, heads into Day Two.

“This morning I pulled into a spot near the area where I wanted to start and thought that I would fish my way up to it. I started fishing, then watched Joseph (Webster) idle right over to where I wanted to be, sit down and commence to just whacking them,” said Setzer, a four-year FLW Tour veteran with one previous FLW Cup appearance. “I thought to myself, ‘Oh my goodness, what a stupid call on my part.’ I struggled with that, but then I settled down and just picked apart the area that I was in.

“I caught a limit by 9:30,” Setzer continued. “The fishing was slower than I was hoping it was going to be, but it was a bigger area and took me a long time to pick it apart.”

Setzer said the spot was mainly deeper grass, with his most success coming from an area he described as a ditch that runs up into a flat. He caught seven keepers there – on two different baits – then left the spot around 11 a.m.

“The bite died off, so I ran down to another stretch of grass that I liked and ended up culling two fish there,” Setzer said. “It was very slow and was an hour or two between bites, but when I got bit it was a good one.”

Setzer tallied just nine bass total throughout the day. He said his plan for tomorrow was mainly to keep his options open.

“There is obviously a bunch of fish in my main area, but it’ll be interesting to see what the weather and the boat pressure does to it,” Setzer went on to say. “I don’t know if I’ll stay with it as long as I did today. I may have to run around and fish some new water. I think I’ve got maybe one or two more areas that I can get bit off of.”

The top 10 pros after day one on Lake Seminole are:

1st:          Braxton Setzer, Montgomery, Ala., five bass, 25-15

2nd:         Joseph Webster, Winfield, Ala., five bass, 25-9

Rods and reels are available for use, but youth are encouraged to bring their own if they own one. The 1st and 2nd place anglers that catch the biggest fish will be recognized Saturday on the FLW Tour stage, just prior to the pros weighing in.

Television coverage of the FLW Tour at Lake Seminole presented by Costa will premiere in 2019. The Emmy-nominated “FLW” television show airs each Saturday night at 7 p.m. EST and is broadcast to more than 63 million cable, satellite and telecommunications households in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean on the World Fishing Network (WFN), the leading entertainment destination and digital resource for anglers throughout North America. Get Hooked On Fishing Will Put Smiles On Faces At Bassmaster Classic

[print_link]

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Hundreds of children will get a first chance to experience the thrill that comes with the feel of a fish on the line during Bassmaster Get Hooked on Fishing presented by Toyota, Shakespeare and TakeMeFishing.org at the 2019 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods.

Young anglers and would-be anglers will find that opportunity daily, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.  March 15-17, outside the Knoxville Convention Center where the Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo presented by DICK’s Sporting Goods will be underway.

“It doesn’t matter where you’re from or who you are, if you’ve never felt a catfish tug on your line it is a thrill,” said organizer David Healy. “The chaos ensues, and the smiles and the taking photos, every time, it’s just a fantastic thing to be a part of.”

A section of World’s Fair Drive, between World’s Fair Park and the Knoxville Convention Center, will become a playground for parents and children outside the Expo Friday through Sunday, and all experiences at the Get Hooked venue are free.

This is the third year for Get Hooked on Fishing at the Classic and an annual highlight always is the catfish pond, where hundreds of aggressive catfish are stocked and just waiting to hit a line and make a child squeal with delight. Knoxville-area B.A.S.S. junior high, high school and college anglers are lined up as volunteers to help youngsters with baiting their hooks, casting and, of course, catching a first fish.

Grownups get to hang back and stand ready to take the pictures.

Get Hooked On Fishing volunteers will give out Shakespeare rod-and-reel combos each day, while supplies last, and Toyota has a build-a-bait station where children can work with volunteers to create their own spinnerbaits with a variety of choices of blades and skirts provided by Strike King. Toyota will also have a spot where kids can learn how to make their first cast and then start to test their accuracy with a bunch of big inflatable largemouth bass as targets. And all youngsters who attend will receive free B.A.S.S. activity books.

Children and parents alike will thrill at the sights and splashes of Eukanuba Super Retriever Series Super Dock dogs sometimes soaring 20 feet or more as the best dog-and-handler teams from around the country compete on the venue.

Kids will also have a chance to Meet the Elites Friday with pro anglers Bill Lowen, Harvey Horne, Brock Mosley, Clark Wendlandt, Jay Yelas, Jesse Tacoronte, Brad Whatley, Keith Combs, Shane Lineberger and Scott Canterbury at the venue.

“It really is designed for parents who have little ones, probably about age 4 to 12 is the ideal age, but anyone can come,” Healy said. “The Expo is so big and busy and full, it’s family focused, too. But it’s cool to have this area that just focuses on the kids, where they can have maybe a 45-minute experience, and it’s all about them and having fun.”

Experienced hands at helping families find their way to the water for fishing and boating adventures, the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF), creators of TakeMeFishing.org, will be on hand with activity books for the kids and lots of information for parents looking for more ways to enjoy the great outdoors.

“We are so excited to welcome the Bassmaster Classic and Get Hooked On Fishing to Knoxville, and share this excitement with our community,” said Kim Bumpas, President of Visit Knoxville. “The partnership between the Visit Knoxville Sports Commission, the City of Knoxville, Knox County, and the state of Tennessee was instrumental in bringing this event to our destination. We hope everyone from the folks who have been fans for decades to the littlest anglers will find ways to enjoy the Classic in Knoxville.”

The Take Me Fishing initiative has introduced thousands of children across the country to fishing and this year RBFF is partnering with B.A.S.S. not only at the Classic but for four more events, the first of which will be the Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest benefiting Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, May 4-6 at Lake Fork, near Emory, Texas. Three others are to be announced across the country, including one planned for Central Park in New York City, with that date to be announced.

“RBFF has a sterling reputation for their strategy and communication skills when it comes to engaging more people to get involved in recreational fishing,” said Angie Thompson, vice president of sales and director of Get Hooked On Fishing at B.A.S.S. “This aligns perfectly with our goal of exposing more kids to the sport. The outreach through their Vamos a Pescar program will also help us strengthen communication to Hispanic families to welcome them to the fishing family. Together we have a big opportunity to make it possible for many more kids to experience the excitement of feeling that vibration of the rod as you catch a fish.”

“It’s important to get to other communities and at other events,” Healy said. “It’s especially important to bring this to urban and minority communities where families might not have as much access to fishing. That’s one of the core missions, to give the opportunity to under-served kids.”

During the Classic, the Knoxville Boys and Girls Club will be bringing children to the Get Hooked on Fishing event daily as well, Healy said.

“It’s all pretty simple,” he said. “We’re trying to make kids smile, and maybe when they leave they’ll ask mom and dad, ‘can we go fishing some time?’”

ATC TRUCK COVERS SPONSORS FLW ANGLER ANDREW UPSHAW IN 2019

[print_link]

OTTAWA, Kan. – ATC Truck Covers, a subsidiary of LTA Manufacturing LLC, has sponsored Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) Angler Andrew Upshaw for the 2019 season. Upshaw is in his seventh year of professional fishing with the FLW and in his tenth year of full-time fishing.

After starting his fishing career with Bassmaster while in college, ultimately receiving a bachelor’s degree in sports marketing from Stephen F. Austin State University, Upshaw transitioned to FLW competition in 2012. Upshaw is a self-taught angler with three tournament wins, 20 Top 10 finishes, two cup appearances and 114 total FLW events fished as of 2018.

“Going into the season, I recognized that I needed a truck cap and cargo management system to really organize and protect my gear. A friend of mine recommended ATC truck caps, so I went to a dealer to check them out and see what would fit my truck. I ended up with an LTD cap and a LoadMaster HD with the StorMaster Combo drawers. I’ve never been the most organized person, but the drawers allow me to keep track of all of my smaller items while the slide-out LoadMaster makes it easier and safer to reach the equipment I store in the back of the bed,” Upshaw said.

ATC Truck Covers recognized Upshaw’s need for a truck cap and StorMaster Combo system with a LoadMaster HD and decided to sponsor Upshaw for the 2019 season. As part of his sponsorship, Upshaw will be promoting the brand on his social media channels, including Instagram and Facebook while representing the brand at competitions. Upshaw also sports ATC Truck Covers logos on his jersey and his boat while fishing.

“Andrew is a great angler, and he has a real need for our products. We were more than happy to sponsor him and outfit his truck. All of us at LTA Manufacturing, not just ATC Truck Covers, are excited to see how he performs this season,” said Vice President of Sales and Marketing Matt Blais.

Upshaw is already aiming to achieve some big goals in 2019, including making his third cup appearance and cashing out at every event, which he has done thus far. He is on the road for about seven months out of the year and is thankful to have a truck outfitted for his needs while traveling to and from fishing tournaments.

About LTA Manufacturing LLC
LTA Manufacturing LLC is a subsidiary of the DeBruce Manufacturing Group. The company acquired ATC Truck Covers, Jason Industries and Ranch Fiberglass in 2017 and handles the sales, marketing and manufacturing of all four brands. Z-Man® unveils easy-to-rig Neko ShroomZ™ Nose Weights

An “Always-on-Deck” Technique

Z-Man® unveils easy-to-rig Neko ShroomZNose Weights

LADSON, SC (March 6, 2019) – Ask pro angler Mark Daniels Jr. to call out his all-time favorite finesse rig and the answer is easy: “Neko rig, man, no question.” Daniels, a rising star on the Major League Fishing Tour calls the Neko an “always-on-deck” technique.

Easing the process of weighting his favorite soft stickbaits, Daniels recently unveiled Z-Man’s Neko ShroomZ Nose Weight, an intelligent terminal tackle accessory that’s simple and effective to rig with all softbaits, including ElaZtech®.

“The Neko ShroomZ employs the same head design as Z-Man’s Finesse ShroomZ jighead, a shape that adds a sweet rocking, pivoting action to whatever bait you put on the hook,” said Daniels. “This cool little weight has a stainless centering wire and a double-barbed keeper. The wire easily penetrates the material and makes it way easier to rig perfectly straight. The keeper grabs hold and stays locked in place.”

Z-Man confidant Drew Reese, co-creator of the Neko ShroomZ, said the team worked through “at least nine different keeper configurations before implementing its final, bulletproof design. It grabs and holds ElaZtech just as well as other soft plastics; much easier to rig than traditional nail- and screw-style weights. If you’re dealing with extra aggressive bass that like to jump and thrash on the hook, a tiny drop of superglue on the shaft creates a permanent connection.”

Timed to tap spring bass bites across America, Daniels offers advice for putting the Neko ShroomZ to work. “I’ve always got a medium action spinning rod on the casting deck, Neko-rigged with a Z-Man Hula StickZ—that’s my favorite finesse bait for sure. The Finesse WormZ is another fish catcher. And I’m super hyped about a brand new ElaZtech bait I’ve been throwing lately. Can’t talk about that yet,” he says with a playful grin. “But stay tuned.”

Neko Tackle

Daniels casts his Neko rigs with 15-pound Seaguar Smackdown braid and a 6- to 10-pound Seaguar Tatsu fluorocarbon leader. “You need line that’s fine and supple enough to maximize the action of a Neko rigged bait. From there, I run a #2 Owner Sniper Finesse hook, impaling the worm about 1/8-inch up from the egg sack, toward the narrower end.”

While traditional Neko- and wacky-rigging requires the angler to slide a rubber O-ring over the bait, under which the hook is planted, ElaZtech is actually tough and tear-resistant enough to eliminate this extra accessory. “You can definitely direct-hook ElaZtech baits for Neko rig fishing,” Daniels observes. “Sometimes, though, I’ll still use an O-ring, which helps prevent the hook from stabbing back into the bait on a hookset. The O-ring also helps the bait slide up the line, so you’re directly connected to the bass.

Neko Apps

“In tournaments, we’re constantly fishing for pressured bass,” he adds. “A Neko-rigged Finesse WormZ or Hula StickZ offer such a non-threatening presentation that fish don’t get conditioned to them. Deadly throwback baits, too. And I love the rig around docks because it skips really well. The Neko ShroomZ is also a great tool for spawning bass. Keeps one end of the bait pinned in place on the bed while the other end floats above, tail wagging with the slightest movement of the rod tip.

“Actually, it’s easy to overfish this rig because it’s so naturally subtle and lively. I always tell people, ‘less is more’ with ElaZtech. Throw it out, let it go to the bottom and lightly shake the braid. A lot of times, a bass will follow to the bottom, and strike as soon as you make the bait dance a little.”

Daniels adds that with weight options from 1/6- to 1/20-ounce, he’s fished Neko ShroomZ-rigged baits from 1 to over 30 feet of water. “I like to fish it vertically for deep spotted bass, watching the fish’s reaction on electronics. The bait’s that versatile.”

Beyond Nekos and wackys, one intriguing alternative has affectionately become known as the ‘Tiny Child Rig’. “It’s sort of a Texas rig in reverse,” says Kyle Peterson of Wired2Fish.com, who unveiled the rig last summer. “I needed something hydrodynamic and subtle I could drop straight into logjams, brushpiles and heavy vegetation without snagging. Take a Z-Man Finesse TRD and Texas rig it with a Neko-style hook and Neko ShroomZ weight in the thicker end. Looks like a miniature pogo stick hopping along bottom, but bass and walleyes eat the heck out of it. The rig’s so fun and easy to fish that, well, let’s just say it lives up to its name.”

Sold in 4-packs, Neko ShroomZ Nose Weights are available in four sizes—1/6-, 1/10-, 1/15- and 1/20-ounce—in Black and Green Pumpkin finishes. MSRP $4.99 per 4-pack. Learn more at zmanfishing.com.

Academy Sports + Outdoors Signs On As Presenting Sponsor Of Bassmaster High School Series

[print_link]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Academy Sports + Outdoors, one of the country’s leading retailers of hunting, fishing and outdoors equipment, has announced a partnership with B.A.S.S. that will help both organizations continue to grow the sport of fishing for years to come.

Academy will serve as the presenting sponsor for the Bassmaster High School Series, which has four regular-season events and a year-end national championship scheduled on lakes around the country this year. The tournaments, which are set for South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, California and Tennessee, are expected to draw thousands of young anglers who are just getting their start in competitive fishing.

The retail giant will also serve as the presenting sponsor for the popular Bassmaster All-American and All-State teams, which are being decided by judges based on nominations from around the country.

“We’re thrilled that the good people from Academy Sports + Outdoors have made this kind of commitment to our high school programs,” said B.A.S.S. Youth Director Hank Weldon. “Every one of the anglers who takes part in our High School Series gets to experience the thrill of competing at a very young age.

“Whether they become lifelong tournament anglers or not, they’re cultivating a love for the outdoors — and Academy Sports + Outdoors recognizes the incredible significance of that.”

With Mossy Oak Fishing as the title sponsor of the high school series, the first event of 2019 will be the Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster High School Eastern Open presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors. The tournament will take place Saturday on South Carolina’s famed Lake Hartwell with takeoff at 6:45 a.m. ET from Green Pond Landing in Anderson, S.C., and the weigh-in back at the same location at 2:45 p.m.

As part of their role as presenting sponsor, Academy held a special promotion at its store in Anderson this past Thursday. Anglers who were fishing the Eastern Open received a 20 percent discount on purchases — and when they presented their receipts at the tournament, they were entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card.

“We’re excited about our expanded partnership with B.A.S.S. and the ability to support youth anglers in their enjoyment of the outdoors,” said Lawrence Lobpries, Academy Sports + Outdoors’ Vice President of Marketing. “This sport is built around passion for the outdoors, and Academy’s strong assortment and value help anglers of all skill levels create fun experiences on the water.”

Similar promotions will be held at nearby Academy locations for other high school events, which will include March 30 on Alabama’s Lake Guntersville, April 28 on Norfork Lake in Mountain Home, Ark., and May 11 on California’s Lake Shasta. The annual Bassmaster High School National Championship is set for July on Kentucky Lake in Paris, Tenn.

Before each high school weigh-in a drawing will be held, and one team will receive a prime tailgate location near the stage with an Academy tent, cooler and other items they can use and take home.

Under the agreement, Academy will be a supporting sponsor of all Bassmaster Elite Series events, B.A.S.S. Nation events and the Bassmaster Team Championship. They will also serve as the title sponsor for the Bassmaster Elite Series tournament scheduled for June 21-24 on Lake Guntersville in Scottsboro, Ala.

FISHING LEAGUE WORLDWIDE, ABU GARCIA AND BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA ANNOUNCE NEW CONTINGENCY PROGRAM FOR YOUTH BASS ANGLERS

MINNEAPOLIS (March 6, 2019) – Fishing League Worldwide (FLW), the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, Abu Garcia, an industry-leading fishing rod and reel manufacturer, and the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), announced today a new contingency program for youth bass anglers who fish the YETI FLW College and Bass Pro Shops FLW High School tournament circuits.

Per the terms of the program, the BSA will award an Abu Garcia Black Max Low Profile reel to the highest finisher in each YETI FLW College Fishing tournament who is a current or former Scout (Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Scouts BSA, Sea Scout, Venturing or Exploring), as well as the highest finishers in each Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Open and the 2019 High School Fishing National Championship who meet the same criteria.

“Abu Garcia is proud to be working with the Scouts and FLW to help support and grow the sport of fishing among high school and college students,” said Jon Schlosser, Vice President of Marketing for Abu Garcia. “We recognize that student anglers represent the future of the sport, and we are committed to investing in building a community around fishing that today’s youth can be a part of. We started this mission with the launch of the Berkley and Abu Garcia Student Angler program in September 2018 to help support high school and college teams by providing fundraising opportunities, a jersey program and pro angler mentoring, and are looking forward to growing the program in the future. Given our focus on supporting student anglers, working with the Scouts to support their contingency program with FLW made perfect sense, and we are excited to be a part of the program.”

The Boy Scouts of America has been heavily involved with tournament fishing for a number of years, with pro angler Tom Redington of Royse City, Texas, representing the brand on the FLW Tour.

“Scouting and fishing go hand-in-hand. Every year, kids head to BSA camps where there are fishing ponds, and for many of them, it’s their first experience with a rod and reel,” said Redington. “The BSA is just a great way for kids to gain basic knowledge about fishing, and for those who are more serious about it, it’s a chance to connect with friends and leaders who can help them elevate their skills to fish at the high school and college levels.”

The contingency programs are open to all YETI FLW College and Bass Pro Shops FLW High School anglers who meet the BSA criteria. To determine eligibility, anglers must notify the tournament director of their Scout status.
