GAINESVILLE, Ga. (March 11, 2018) – After weighing in a limit of spotted bass in each of the first three days of competition, pro Bradley Hallman of Norman, Oklahoma, weighed a five-bass limit of largemouth Sunday totaling 13 pounds, 1 ounce, to clinch his victory at the FLW Tour at Lake Lanier presented by Ranger Boats and win $100,000. Hallman led the event for four-straight days after weighing in a tournament-best 23-pound, 11-ounce limit of spotted bass Thursday on Day One, and won by a 2-pound, 10-ounce margin over fellow Oklahoman Zack Birge who finished with 65-10.

“It was a great, great week,” said Hallman, who earned his second career win on the FLW Tour. “I probably fished the best week that I have ever fished in my entire life. I say that because I had to catch these fish a different way each day.”

Hallman said that he caught his huge Day One limit of spotted bass fishing points with a Sexy Shiner-colored Megabass Vision 110+1 jerkbait and a sexy shad-colored Keitech 3.8-inch swimbait with a ½-ounce Buckeye Lures J-Will Swimbait Head. On Day Two, Hallman fished the points but only managed one keeper by 1 o’clock. He changed patterns and began targeting seawalls in marinas with the swimbait and managed to bring 18-7 to the scale.

Day Three, Hallman only caught one fish with the swimbait off of the seawalls, and no fish off of the points. He was forced to change patterns again, this time catching a limit inside marinas, under shallow docks and walkways, with a green-pumpkin Zoom Trick Worm on a ¼-ounce shaky-head rig.

“This morning I knew that I needed the sun to position those fish on the docks, and with the cloud cover I wasn’t going to have it,” Hallman said. “I had stopped a couple of times and fished the river near takeoff in my last 10 minutes before checking in each day and caught a couple with a spinnerbait. So, I made the decision this morning to fish the river all day.”

Hallman never caught a fish more than three miles from takeoff Sunday, hitting docks and patches of emergent dogfennel in the backs of pockets. He said that his key bait was a ½-ounce, double willow-bladed, chartreuse and white War Eagle spinnerbait.

“I’m really blessed and fortunate to win one Tour event, let alone two,” Hallman went on to say. “I’m real good at finishing 135th too, so I take the good with the bad and I’m just trying to enjoy this one for all I can.”

The top 10 pros on Lake Lanier finished:

1st:          Bradley Hallman, Norman, Okla., 20 bass, 68-4, $100,000

Oklahoma Pro Leads Third-Straight Day, Brings 5-pound, 9-ounce Lead into Championship Sunday

[print_link]

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (March 10, 2018) – Oklahoma pro Bradley Hallman has one previous career win on the FLW Tour – a 2016 event on Florida’s Lake Okeechobee, where he led the tournament for four straight days and won by a near 15-pound margin. Hallman is looking to match that feat this week on Lake Lanier, as he weighed another limit of spotted bass totaling 13 pounds, 1 ounce, Saturday to maintain his lead for the third straight day at the FLW Tour at Lake Lanier presented by Ranger Boats. The field is now cut to the final 10 pros for Championship Sunday in the four-day event that featured a field of the world’s best bass-fishing professionals competing for a top prize of up to $125,000.

Hallman’s three-day total of 15 bass weighing 55-3 will give him a solid 5-pound, 9-ounce advantage over second-place pro and fellow Oklahoman Zack Birge, who has a three-day total of 15 bass for 49-10. Also trying to catch Hallman on Sunday will be Canadian pro Jeff Gustafson of Keewatin, Ontario (48-10), who sits in third after making his second straight top-10 cut on the FLW Tour after finishing second at the Harris Chain of Lakes in Florida two weeks ago, and local pro Jason Johnson of Dawsonville (48-9), who will start Sunday in 4th place after weighing Saturday’s largest limit of 17-10.

“Today was a day where nothing really bad happened, but I’m happy that I salvaged what I did,” said Hallman, who is fishing in his 20th career FLW Tour event. “Every day I’ve been doing something different and today I caught some off of docks. I only had 10 bites and I put six of them in the boat. The four that I lost were ones that I really could have used.”

Hallman said that he caught his fish Saturday throwing a spinnerbait, a swimbait and a shaky-head rig.

“I caught 18 pounds fishing marinas yesterday,” he said. “I only caught one today. It was hard to get them to bite without the sun – you need the sun to shine to put them in position. When it’s cloudy like it was today, they just roam.

“One way or another, I’m going back to the marinas tomorrow,” Hallman went on to say. “I know how difficult it is to win these Tour events and I need to have a really good day tomorrow. The key will be staying open minded, like I did today. I’ve really enjoyed myself this week – this place is phenomenal.”

The top 10 pros advancing to the final day of competition on Lake Lanier are:

Prespawn Bass Fishing Tips: Catch Bass While They’re Staging – MTB

Prespawn Bass Fishing Tips: Catch Bass While They’re Staging

 [print_link]

Daylight hours lengthen and the water begins to warm as winter gradually turns into spring. It’s prespawn bass fishing time.

During this seasonal transition, bass emerge from their wintertime haunts in search of a spawning site. However, moody early spring weather with its barrage of warm and cold fronts prevent bass from immediately building nests in the shallows. While awaiting the arrival of warmer, stable weather, bass seek a comfort zone somewhere in between their wintertime haunts and the spawning banks.

You can hit the jackpot by finding one of these prespawn staging areas because the fish tend to stack up there, but the depth and location of these sweet spots differ on various bodies of water. Here’s a look at how to find prespawn bass on natural lakes, rivers, lowland reservoirs and highland impoundments.

Prespawn Bass Fishing Natural Lakes

bass spawning

You can head for the bays of glacial lakes to find prespawn largemouth and smallmouth bass. The fish remain in the bays throughout the year and hold in bulrushes or along rocks at depths of 6 to 12 feet deep even during the winter because there isn’t a lot of depth change on these lakes.

A prime prespawn staging area for largemouth bass consists of a rock pile 4 to 5 feet deep along a vast flat in a bay. You can also locate staging areas along any combination of rocks and aquatic vegetation because bass prefer spawning on the hard bottom close to those spots.

Smallmouth also stage along the hard-bottom flats in the bays but these fish relate less to cover. Look for a tapering type of bank where smallmouth are kind of moseying their way in to the shallows. Smallmouth can be scattered anywhere along the gravel flats, but larger concentrations of bass stage near big boulders or rocks mixed with pea gravel and sand.

Prespawn Bass Fishing Rivers

river spawning bass

Source: Worley

Weedy areas in sloughs serve as prime prespawn bass fishing sites for river bass. The fish will stage on old lily pad stem beds because the vegetation grows on a sandy bottom.

These bass spend winter in deep holes and stage in an area that has light current near a deep hole. Even though prespawn bass stay as shallow as 2 feet in the weeds, these staging fish prefer a location near deep water such as a drop-off or the main river channel.

Siltation limits prime spawning areas on a river so one of the main problems with river systems is finding a hard bottom or a bottom that doesn’t silt over during a flood. So the ideal location for staging river bass is any aquatic vegetation growing between a hard-bottom spawning area and the deep pools in a slough or on the main river.

Prespawn Bass Fishing Lowland Reservoirs

prespawn bass fishing

Similar to natural lakes and rivers, these manmade impoundments harbor staging bass in shallow water.

You can locate prespawn staging bass in the feeder creeks of lowland reservoirs. Normally when the fish are going up the creeks they are picking out the little flat shallow gravel and mixed rock points.

A limited amount of deep water causes bass to remain shallow throughout the year in flatland reservoirs. So you rarely catch bass deeper than 10 to 12 feet from these waters.

During the winter, lowland impoundment bass seek shelter on the deeper ledges of the creek channel. Prespawn bass move up from the ledges to the sloping secondary points mixed with gravel and rocks where bass stage at depths of 3 to 8 feet. The prime secondary points are those near gravel and sandy banks where the bass eventually move in to build their nests.

Prespawn Bass Fishing Highland Reservoirs

bass on beds prespawn

Source: iBass360

Major feeder creeks become prime targets in any search for prespawn bass staging on deep, clear highlands reservoirs.

Look for a good prespawn bass fishing point that runs out and has cover, such as cedar trees, pole timber, big boulders or anything else bass can move up to and stage on. Don’t overlook the cedar trees, any other wood cover or rocks because that type of cover can draw heat from the sun and any time the fish has the ability to pull up on the cover and get a little heat is a key to catching those staging fish.

Highland reservoir bass also spend their winters in the creek channels, but unlike their lowland impoundment cousins, these staging fish hold deep, sometimes suspending over depths of 15 to 25 feet. Prime staging areas are close to both the pea gravel spawning banks and the wintering spots. A lot of the areas where you catch prespawn staging bass in trees versus bass you catch in the winter might be just yards apart. There are actually some areas where you can be jigging a spoon and catch wintering bass in 30 feet of water and then turn around and throw a suspending stickbait on a shelf to catch staging bass.

Illinois Fisherman Claims Victory In B.A.S.S. Nation Regional On Louisiana’s Toledo Bend Reservoir

Illinois angler Bob Blumenstein wins the 2018 Academy Sports + Outdoors B.A.S.S. Nation Central Regional presented by Magellan Outdoors with a three-day total weight of 59 pounds, 2 ounces on Toledo Bend Reservoir, Louisiana.

Illinois Fisherman Claims Victory In B.A.S.S. Nation Regional On Louisiana’s Toledo Bend Reservoir

[print_link]

MANY, La. — Bob Blumenstein said wind might be the only thing that could hinder his chances of winning the Academy Sports + Outdoors B.A.S.S. Nation Central Regional presented by Magellan Outdoors.

The wind howled Friday on Toledo Bend Reservoir, but Blumenstein won the tournament anyway.

The 51-year old Illinois angler closed the event with a five-bass limit that weighed 16 pounds, 7 ounces. It was his lightest bag of the week, but it gave him a three-day total of 59-2, which was more than enough to earn the individual championship here in northwest Louisiana.

Blumenstein won $6,500 for finishing first in the field of 190 boaters entered in the tournament. He also earned a spot in the Academy Sports + Outdoors B.A.S.S. Nation Championship presented by Magellan Outdoors, which will be held later this year on an undisclosed date and fishery. The leading anglers from each of the other 18 states competing here advanced to the national championship, as did 19 nonboaters who led their respective states.

In all, 380 anglers took part in the tournament, but none caught bass like Blumenstein.

“I caught them right there; about a 10-minute ride from here,” he said motioning to a point within sight of the Cypress Bend Park launch. “It was just a magical spot.”

That it was, but Blumenstein feared wind might disrupt the catch. He boated a 16-14 bag on Wednesday when the wind steadily blew, but he felt his spot could produce heavier bass in less blustery conditions. When Mother Nature cooperated on Thursday, Blumenstein increased his catch to a tournament-best 25-13.

That gave him a 4-pound, 1-ounce lead over the field heading into the final day of fishing. He started the final day by hooking a 7-pounder within moments of pulling up to his spot, and he backed it up with a pair of 3-pounders and two smaller bass that provided him the winning weight.

“I kept working a point that had a steel seawall around it,” he said. “There was a gradual drop from about 14 to 18 feet there and the fish would stack up. For about an hour each morning, they would come up into about 6 feet of water. They did that all three days. I’d throw a crankbait or a jig for that hour; hour and 10 minutes. That’s where I caught all the fish.”

Blumenstein’s used a Missouri Craw Chompers jig with twin trailers as his primary lure, and he went to a silver-backed herring crankbait at times.

It was his fourth trip to a B.A.S.S. Nation regional. (He reached this level twice as a boater and twice as a nonboater.) It’s the first time, however, he made it to Day 3 of a regional and the first time he’ll represent his state in the national championship.

“This is incredible,” he said. “I don’t know how the pros do this all the time. I didn’t eat well, I didn’t sleep. I’m out of it. But I feel great. What a week.”

Louisiana’s Todd Newchurch won the nonboater division with a three-day total of 39-1. Anglers in the nonboater division could catch three bass per day, and the Livonia resident had his limit all three days.

Newchurch started today in third place, but a 17-2 sack vaulted him into the hot seat early in the final weigh-in. He held the spot through the very end, when fellow Louisiana angler Charlie Hewitt (who led after Day 2) weighed only one bass.

“Yesterday, I was using a Brushbuster jig, a Carolina rig and a spinner bait,” Newchurch said. “Today, it was nothing but a lizard on a Carolina rig. All of this is really exciting.”

He fished Friday with Corey Brant of Minnesota B.A.S.S. Nation. Brant second in the boater division. They fished a flat in the middle of the reservoir that ranged from 12 to 30 feet. It was his first time in a regional and he earned $3,250 for the victory.

“It was a great place to fish,” Newchurch said. “I was on good fish all three days.”

Indiana’s Chris Myers, who caught an 11-6 bass on Thursday, won $500 for having the heaviest bass in the boater division. Louisiana’s Michael Nobile won $250 for his 8-15 bass, which was the heaviest by a nonboater.

A day earlier, Louisiana defeated 18 other squads for the team championship. Team Arkansas finished second in that competition, and Team Iowa finished third.

HALLMAN EXTENDS LEAD ON DAY TWO OF FLW TOUR AT LAKE LANIER PRESENTED BY RANGER BOATS

HALLMAN EXTENDS LEAD ON DAY TWO OF FLW TOUR AT LAKE LANIER PRESENTED BY RANGER BOATS

South Carolina’s Anders Wins Co-angler Title, $25K

[print_link]

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (March 9, 2018) – Oklahoma pro Bradley Hallman weighed another solid limit of spotted bass – 18 pounds, 7 ounces – to extend his lead after Day Two of the FLW Tour at Lake Lanier presented by Ranger Boats. The field of 184 boats is now cut to 30, with Hallman bringing a 7-pound, 5-ounce lead into Day Three of the four-day event that features a field of the world’s best bass-fishing professionals and co-anglers competing for top awards of up to $125,000 cash in the pro division and $25,000 cash in the co-angler division.

“I feel very fortunate to catch what I did,” said Hallman, a four-year veteran of the Tour who has one previous Tour win. “Around 1 o’clock I only had one little fish. But, it was a nice afternoon for me. I pulled up on a couple of spots and they were there. I caught a 3- and a 4-pounder on back-to-back casts and that really helped me to get right.”

Hallman said that his fishing this week has been “high-risk, high-reward” and he estimated that he ran 35 spots this morning before he switched patterns.

“I’ve got a couple of different deals working and they are two totally different patterns,” Hallman said. “The way that I caught them yesterday is not how I caught them today. I’ve got a little secondary deal that I’m starting to figure out through the week. I only did it for 30 minutes yesterday and I caught a big one. This afternoon I went and did it for the last 3 hours and I caught them.”

Though Hallman didn’t want to reveal any details of his patterns, he did hint that he was throwing reaction baits and of the dozen rods that he had on his deck, 10 were baitcasters and two were spinning rods.

“This lake has been really good to me for two days in a row and it has been a lot of fun to fish here,” Hallman went on to say. “There doesn’t seem to be that many fish pushing, but if you hit the right spot at the right time you can load the boat real quick.”

The top 30 pros that made the first cut and will fish Saturday on Lake Lanier are:

St. Croix’s all-new Mojo Bass Dock Sniper – being showcased at the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic

Dock Sniper Multiplies Mojo’s Accuracy

St. Croix’s all-new Mojo Bass Dock Sniper – being showcased at the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic –  gives the power of precision at a perfect price.

[print_link]

PARK FALLS, WI (March 9, 2018) – It’s no secret that bass love docks. From everyday anglers to professionals, bass-heads learn to look for these manmade structures as prime target for green and brown backs. And while countless bass anglers grew up luring bass from the shadows of these platforms, they’ve never had the perfect tool for the task. Enter St. Croix’s Mojo Bass Dock Sniper (MJC70HF), a specialty bass rod that’s built for extreme accuracy, as well as the muscles to bring fish back to the boat.

The 7’, heavy power, fast-action rod shoots for precision, as accuracy is requisite to hitting sweet spots. The Mojo Bass Dock Sniper’s fast-action tip allows gentle, precise placement of baits, while its heavy backbone gives you the lifting power to hoist bass away from underwater brush piles, cables and ladders that threaten to snag your catch.

Dock fishing is often a close-quarters combat situation with limited visibility and maximum mystery. As winter weather begins to warm waters across the country, bass gravitate to these manmade habitats, whose shallow water real estate and attached, heat-absorbing watercraft serve as a veritable underwater lair. There, bass will soak in heat, warming their winter bones while gorging themselves on the bounty of sunfish, baitfish and other waterlife that also call docks home.

“The Mojo Bass Dock Sniper is really a multi-tool,” says St. Croix’s Dan Johnston, who recently put the rod to the test in the legendary wooded-waters of Tennessee’s Reelfoot Lake. “It can be skipped, casted or pitched. You can present almost any 1/2 ounce to ¾-ounce bass bait. They’re right in this rod’s wheelhouse.

“It’s a great rod for big spinnerbaits. You can pitch them around cover when you’re in a confined space like around a boat dock. The Mojo Bass Dock Sniper has a tremendous amount of power, too, and it maneuvers so well in tight quarters. Without question, it’s a must-have for bass anglers wanting to throw big baits around obstructions and cover.”

In addition to premium SCIII graphite and Integrated Poly Curve® (IPC™) mandrel technology, Mojo Bass Dock Sniper features Kigan Master Hand 3D guides with slim, strong aluminum-oxide rings and black frames; a Fuji® ECS reel seat, Kigan hook-keeper; split-grip, premium-grade cork handle; two coats of Flex-Coat slow cure finish; and 5-year warranty backed by St. Croix Superstar Service. Mojo Bass Dock Sniper retails for $130.

The Feeding Frenzy Begins The Jerkbait By Bruce Callis March 9, 2018

The Feeding Frenzy Begins

The Jerkbait

By Bruce Callis

[print_link]

Spring time is right around the corner, but with the warmer weather and rising water temperatures, the bass are starting to think about spawning. Granted, it is still a little ways away, but the feed bag light has been lit, and they are starting to feed heavily. Now is the time when true hawgs can be caught. The lakes are already starting to give up big bass who look like they are ready to explode.

This is also a time when a jerkbait can really shine. But it still requires a lot of work. It isn’t just throw it out and they automatically slam your bait. When we first pick up a jerkbait, it can seem so intimating. That long slender body with 3 sets of treble hooks, or the shorter 2 treble hook bait, fatter body or skinny, suspending or floating, deep diving or shallow running, what do we choose. And exactly how do we fish it. I remember when I first got mine, I had no idea what I was doing.Back those 40 some years ago, we didn’t have the choices we have today and I picked up a floating jerkbait. And I basically threw it out and reeled it back in. I caught a couple bass, but I was frustrated to say the least. It took me many years to really learn how to finally fish the bait more efficiently. But today we have so many options to learn the different ways the bait can be used.

This time of year, a suspending jerkbait can be deadly. But you must know where it really shines. It can be fished on either a spinning rod or a baitcasting rod, but with either, the rod must have a good backbone, but a fast tip. You want to work the bait, but not rip the lure out of the bass’ mouth. Fluorocarbon line is the best to use, but monofilament will work also, with 10-12 pound test being the best choice in line strength. Once you are set, make a long cast and reel the bait down with 2 or 3 turns of the handle. On a slack line, you start to twitch the lure, making it dance and dart, like a baitfish struggling. The object is to make the lure dance in place more than moving toward you in big jumps.

Fishing a jerkbait is all about a rhythm or cadence, and usually you start with 2 sharp jerks, then a pause, and then you repeat it over and over back to the boat or shore. But there is no magic formula or how many jerks, how fast you jerk, or the length of the pause. In the winter, the pause may be painfully long, or it can be a quick pause, just enough to make the bass react and strike your lure. You will need to experiment to find what the bass want, and it can change from day to day, and it can even change during the day. You have to change to keep up with the bass.

Jerkbaits really excel in slightly stained water. While they will work in clearer water, wind is a big plus. And bright sunny day with slightly stained water and a little wind are the most optimal conditions during the spring and prespawn. The clearer the water, the more natural colors work better. And the more stained the water, the more you need to go with brighter colors and the darker colors.

The jerkbait is designed to draw fish out of cover to attack your bait. Work it along the breaks, along the points and around laydowns and docks. Pay attention to where you are getting bit and how you are working the bait itself. If they are hitting it on the shady side of docks, you can target those areas especially. If they are hitting along secondary points, you can work down the bank hitting those areas. If they are hitting in the back of pockets, you can run and work just those locations.

Jerkbaits can really be amazing baits this time of year, but you must be patient and pay attention to the details of every catch. If you catch 2 or 3 fish doing the same thing, you have a pattern that should work anywhere on the lake, just be ready to adjust to the changing conditions and the bass. And have fun!

2018 Bassmaster Classic Preview: Lake Hartwell MTB

2018 Bassmaster Classic Preview: Lake Hartwell

 [print_link]

It’s that time of year again. The best anglers in the world are coming together to compete for the Super Bowl of bass fishing, The Geico Bassmaster Classic. The Bassmaster Classic is the most prestigious title in bass fishing, and most anglers can only dream of ever hoisting the coveted trophy over their head. This year marks the 50th Classic since the inaugural tournament was held at Lake Mead in 1971, potentially making this year’s event an even more special victory for whoever stands on stage with the most weight come the end of championship Sunday. In anticipation for the tournament, we decided to break down what you need to know about this year’s Classic venue, Lake Hartwell, the potential winning patterns, and our favorite anglers to win.

Lake Hartwell Breakdown

lake hartwell

Lake Hartwell has played host to multiple Bassmaster Classics in the past, most recently in 2015. In 2015, the local knowledge of Casey Ashley propelled him to his first ever Classic victory. This tournament was held in mid February, and a swift front brought brutal cold weather to the region, creating very difficult fishing conditions. The cold temperatures kept the majority of the bass suspended offshore, feeding on schools of blueback herring. Ashley used a homemade underspin to catch his limit of these offshore bass each day and ultimately win the tournament. However, you can forget about the 2015 Classic. This year’s event at Hartwell is set to fish entirely different.

The biggest difference in this year’s Classic is it is nearly a month later, taking place in mid-March as opposed to mid-February. Water and air temperatures will be much warmer and a lot of fish will be moving shallow. Unless a surprise major cold or warm front rolls through, it is looking like the majority of bass will be in full-blown prespawn, with some fish being very close to spawning.

Combine the warm water temperatures with Hartwell’s newly formed shoreline grass, and this derby is shaping up to be a shallow water, power fisherman’s dream scenario. If the water level rises a few feet (as it is expected to), a lot of cover that is usually on the bank will be submerged, and bass will be eager to move right up into it. Typical shallow water baits like spinnerbaits, squarebill crankbaits, chatterbaits, and Texas rigs will be thrown abundantly by pros around grass, bushes, and boat docks.

Who Are The Bassmaster Classic Favorites?

Even with the drastic changes in the way the lake is going to fish, you can’t avoid the fact Casey Ashley is the clear favorite to win his second Classic. Ashley may know Lake Hartwell better than any angler in the field, and he is all but guaranteed to adapt to the conditions. He’ll put solid limits in the boat each day of competition.

Mike Iaconelli

Ike is a fierce competitor and nothing gets him more fired up than The Bassmaster Classic. He won it back in 2003 and has been on the verge of taking his second title in many Classics since. Ike has also had previous success at Lake Hartwell. In the two previous Classics held at Hartwell, he finished 10th (2008) and 6th (2015). With this year’s Classic setting up to be a shallow water slugfest, don’t be surprised if you see Mike Iaconelli’s name near the top of the leaderboard throughout the event.

Jason Christie

There may not be a better shallow water fisherman on planet earth than Jason Christie. Christie is a fish catching machine when he can bust down the bank fishing cover with a spinnerbait or a jig. The conditions at Hartwell appear to be primed for the 2016 Classic runner-up to get over the hump and bring home his first Bassmaster Classic championship.

The Sneaky Bassmaster Classic Pick

Mark Daniels Jr.

Mark Daniels Jr., also known as MDJ, is coming hot off of a very impressive rookie season on the Elite Series. In his first season on tour, MDJ recorded three Top 10 finishes and has proven that he can hang with the best anglers in the world. Coming into his first Classic, it is a guarantee that he will have prepared to the max and will be ready for whatever curveballs Hartwell may throw his way. MDJ is a very versatile angler, and could catch heavy limits of bass on a variety of baits at this year’s Bassmaster Classic. It wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see him chunking and winding his go-to Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap for those key bites.

B.A.S.S. Nation, Carhartt Team Up To Help Clean Up 11 South Carolina Lakes

[print_link]

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods not only raises the game of the world’s best anglers, but it often brings out the best in the fishing industry and its faithful fans in a unified celebration of the sport. And a recently announced cooperative effort between Carhartt, B.A.S.S., and the South Carolina B.A.S.S. Nation epitomizes that spirit.

During the three-day 2018 Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods in Greenville’s TD Convention Center March 16 -18, hard-working folks from the Carhartt manufacturing plant in Kentucky will be in the Carhartt exhibit booth sewing the iconic B.A.S.S. logo on Carhartt’s famous “A18” acrylic watch cap.

Fans who choose to donate $5 to the South Carolina B.A.S.S. Nation Conservation fund at the Carhartt booth will receive one of the limited edition hats ideally suited for cool weather work or fishing, and all funds collected from this conservation-minded project at the Classic will then be donated to the South Carolina B.A.S.S. Nation to buy gloves, boots, tools and trash bags for high school anglers and other volunteers who will be cleaning up trash from 11 South Carolina fisheries.

“We have around 500 youth and high school members in the South Carolina B.A.S.S. Nation, and 11 bodies of water in need of shoreline and boat ramp cleanup. We plan to involve all of our youth in this win-win project, and the funds collected at the Carhartt booth by supportive fans will aid greatly in our efforts,” said Randy Mosley, president of the South Carolina B.A.S.S. Nation.

Fans attending the 2018 Bassmaster Classic are encouraged to stop by the Carhartt booth, located next to the Skeeter Boats booth, for a chance to show their love of bass fishing and cleaner waterways by supporting the initiative to clean up South Carolina fisheries — and walk away with a limited edition Carhartt B.A.S.S. cap.
