March 2023 Lower Roanoke River/Albermarle Sound Fishing Report by Captain Scooter Lilley

Date:

It’s that time of the year, when the big ones show up shallow! The largemouth bite has been strong down east! The fish are moving up everywhere with the warm temps. We are catching them on top waters to shallow crank baits. If you want to experience one of the best bass fisheries in North Carolina give me a call 252-799-9536

Along with the largemouth mouth being on fire, the Striper fishing has been awesome! Average catch for a trip is 30 fish with catches hitting the triple digits on those special days. We have been targeting the fish in the current with heavy jig heads and fluke style baits out in the river. My favorite way when wind allows is to through larger swimbaits over shallow stumps where these fish stage up to enter the river. It’s an action packed trip for sure, I’ve only got a few days open in March and April so don’t miss out on a good day of fishing fun.
