BEMIDJI, Minn. (June 19, 2023) – It’s one of those rare feats that anglers only dream of… But for Jeff “Gussy” Gustafson, his recent 2023 Bassmaster Classic win was over 20 years in the making, as the Keewatin, Ontario-based angler has been plying the water almost every day of his life—from his pre-teens through today. To celebrate his win—and act as a send-off for the B.A.S.S. Elite Tournament on the Sabine River in Texas—John Peterson put together a party at his residence to celebrate the win of one of their very own.“Northland Fishing Tackle founders John and Duane Peterson have had a relationship with Jeff Gustafson for the better part of 20 years. Northland was one of Jeff’s very first sponsors,” says Mike Anselmo, Marketing Director, Northland Fishing Tackle. |
The group in attendance were industry friends and family: the Lindners; Gary “Mr. Walleye” Roach; retired Rapala lure designer, Mark Fisher; competing anglers from the Fort Frances, Ontario, area; Brian “Bro” Brosdahl; and a host of other fishing notables. According to Anselmo the event was a time for “handshakes and hugs.”Anselmo continues: “It was great to celebrate with John Peterson and the Northland crew: Bro, the Lindners, and everyone else. This cast of characters have all known each other for a really long time, and it was really special getting to bring the trophy to Bemidji.”Gussy concludes: “I want to thank everyone for their support. It really means lot to Shelby and me. The party is over now. John Peterson and I are now going to focus on beating all our friends at the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship on July 20-22.” |
Northland legend “Mr. Walleye” Gary Roach and his wife Beverly were in attendance. |
