Rodney Bell & Tommy Jones Win Angler’s Choice Championship on Kerr Lake

Date:

October 15, 2023 – The excitement and anticipation that built up throughout the 2023 Angler’s Choice season reached its climax as the Championship event came to a close this past weekend. With 110 teams qualifying, the stakes were high, and the competition was fierce. Out of these, 86 teams ventured onto the waters for the Championship, facing challenging conditions and putting their angling skills to the ultimate test. The outcome? A nail-biting tournament that left spectators in awe and anglers on the edge of their seats.

Despite the tough conditions, with approximately half of the participants heading home earlier than expected on the final day, the weekend showcased the resilience and determination of the angling community. Day one saw anglers wrestling with the elements, with average weights hovering around 9lbs, setting the stage for an unpredictable showdown. However, day two proved even more challenging, as wind, sun, and shifting cloud cover disrupted established patterns, making the bite elusive for many.

In this challenging environment, Rodney Bell & Tommy Jones emerged as the ultimate victors. Their strategic prowess and unwavering determination propelled them to victory, despite weighing in only four fish. Their remarkable catch on day one, totaling an impressive 18.27lb, secured their lead. In a thrilling finish, they clinched the win by a mere .13 ounces over the second-place team, Jeff & Clay Ross. Their two-day total weight of 27.99lbs cemented their position as the champions of the 2023 Angler’s Choice Championship.

The tournament’s outcome speaks volumes about the skill and tenacity of the participants, who battled not only each other but also the unpredictable elements. Every cast, every hookset, and every moment of excitement contributed to the electrifying atmosphere that surrounded the event.

As the curtains fall on the 2023 season, anticipation builds for the next chapter.
