EUFAULA, Ala. (June 1, 2015) – Ryan Ingram of Phenix City, Alabama, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 22 pounds, 13 ounces Saturday to win the fourth Walmart Bass Fishing League Bulldog Division tournament of 2015 on Lake Eufaula. For his victory, Ingram earned $5,804.
“I primarily fished parallel with lily pads on the north end of the lake,” said Ingram, who earned his sixth career victory on Lake Eufaula in FLW competition. “The bass were really active due to the rising water temperature.”
Ingram said he used a 1-ounce yellow and white-colored Strikezone Ledgebuster spinnerbait to catch his winning stringer.
“I just put down my trolling motor in 3 feet of water and focused on those lily pads,” said Ingram. “I caught a 6-pounder around noon which really helped.”
Ingram said he caught around 15 keepers in three different areas throughout his day.
“Everybody has been going south lately to catch fish,” said Ingram. “I stuck with my gut and went searching up north to avoid the crowd. Those spots seem to produce the most consistent weights for me.”

BROOKELAND, Texas (June 1, 2015) – Paul Wilson of Converse, Louisiana, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 21 pounds, 5 ounces Saturday to win the fourth Walmart Bass Fishing League Cowboy Division tournament of 2015 on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. For his victory, Wilson earned $5,472.
Wilson said he caught his fish along main-lake points in 14 to 20 feet of water. He used a Tennessee Shad-colored Norman Lures DD22 crankbait as well as a Carolina-rigged California 420-colored Zoom Ol’ Monster Worm.
“I would use the DD22 to see if the fish were hungry and if they were I’d drag the Monster Worm,” said Wilson.
Wilson said he caught approximately 60 fish during the tournament.
“My second fish of the day was my biggest – a 7-pounder. I had a limit within 15 minutes,” said Wilson. “From there I went around to eight different spots. Three of them produced my winning fish, but we kept moving back and forth between the others to make sure we didn’t miss anything.
“With the water being higher than usual, there was a lot of underwater structure that normally wouldn’t be there,” continued Wilson. “The fish seemed to be attracted to the different obstacles – especially the more gradual slopes. And if the slopes had a lot of brush, I knew some big fish would be there. I was fortunate enough to find that out early on.”
The top 10 boaters finished the tournament in:

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (June 1, 2015) – Mike Feldermann of Galena, Illinois, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 15 pounds even Saturday to win the second Walmart Bass Fishing League Great Lakes Division tournament of 2015 on the Mississippi River. For his victory, Feldermann earned $6,498.
“It feels great,” said Feldermann, a 21-year BFL Great Lakes division veteran with eight career victories. “I know this area of the river really well so when I see my strategy fall into place it is really gratifying.”
Feldermann said he targeted bass in Pool No. 9 using a homemade white and chartreuse-colored spinnerbait.
“I was fishing the flooded reeds and grass in 2 to 3 feet of water the entire day,” Feldermann said. “I caught a quick limit at my first spot before heading north around 9 a.m.
Feldermann said the biggest difference in his spots was the amount of fish he would catch, as well as their size.
“I caught the 4-pound, 12-ouncer – the biggest bass of the tournament – at about 11:15,” Feldermann said. “Those northern spots didn’t have tons of fish like the southern ones did, but the fish I brought in were large. If you want to win a tournament you’ve got to head up north.”

BRANDON, Miss. (June 1, 2015) – Shannon Denson of Brandon, Mississippi, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 23 pounds, 2 ounces Saturday to win the third Walmart Bass Fishing League Mississippi Division tournament of 2015 on Ross Barnett Reservoir. For his victory, Denson earned $4,618.
Denson said he started his day targeting bass in lily pads using a frog, but couldn’t find the bite.
“I had found good fish at these spots before the tournament but it wasn’t firing like I had hoped, so I decided to make a run,” said Denson. “I went to a submerged island and got my limit using a Strike King Jointed Structure Head jig rigged with a Blue Sapphire-colored Menace Twin Tail grub. The fish were in only about 18 inches of water.
“After catching the limit I spent my day trying to fire up schools on main-lake ledges and humps,” continued Denson. “I’d throw a Strike King KVD 8.0 Squarebill Magnum Crankbait to get the fish moving and then I’d switch to a Strike King Series 3 crankbait to clean up. Looking back, the Series 3 got the most bites.”
After the day concluded, Denson figured he had caught around 40 fish.
“The first drops right outside of the spawning areas is where the best fish came from,” said Denison. “Luckily, I was there to find them.”

Best lures will be jigs, drop shot rigs, top water lures, Carolina rigs, buzz baits, Large Texas rigged plastic worms and shaky heads. Most largemouth bass will be caught near secondary and main points, brush piles, humps, ledges, rip rap shorelines and deep docks. Best depths will be from the surface to 20 feet deep. Most largemouth bass will have already spawned. Rocks, stumps and brush are key factors to finding bass this month. Please practice catch and release.

Smallmouth Bass- Fishing should be fair. Best areas will be rocks, humps, ledges, and main channel points. Best lures will be jig & pig, tubes, hair jigs and top water lures. Best areas will be in the mid to the lower sections of the lake. Most smallmouth bass will be suspened this month near schools of baitfish. Cloudy days with light winds are good times to try your luck! Light line and smaller lures will increase your chances to catch smallmouth bass.

Striped Bass- Fishing will be good. Stripers will be caught in the mid to lower sections of the lake and the larger creeks. Best lures will be swim baits, top water poppers, Thunder sticks, Red-fins and Zoom flukes fished on 3/8 to 3/4 oz. lead heads. The best depths will be from the surface to 40 feet deep. Baitfish will still be spawning near the shorelines at night. Live bait will work this month. Night fishing will be fair this month. Some schools of stripers will surface this month!

Crappie- Fishing for crappie will be fair this month. They will be found 5 to 20 feet deep. Best areas will be in the main creeks around docks, fallen trees, and brush piles in the mid to upper sections of the lake. Small live minnows and 1 ½ to 2 inch tubes or shad shaped plastic lures fished on 1/16 to 1/18 oz. lead heads will work best to catch crappie this month.

TIP OF THE Month: Most species of fish have spawned and moved into their summer feeding patterns. Some bait fish will continue to come to the main channel points late at night. The use of a black light at night will help you to see better after dark! Make sure you wear your life jacket. You can never be too careful when boating after dark! Remember to be courteous and obey all the boating laws. Please practice catch and release. Take a kid fishing!

The first official day of summer is not until June 21, but you can’t tell by the humidity, air temps and afternoon thunder storms!!! The weekend summer crowd is here and the fishing is really heating up as well. The top water bite is in full swing for both bass and striper and many times can be found in the same areas.
Bass–  The bass are full blown post spawn now and are aggressively taking top water baits early in the morning. Look for them to be chasing Blue Back Herring for the first couple of hours in the morning. Damiki MTB NOISY BUZZBAITS, DAMIKI RAMBLER WALKING BAITS, PAYCHECK BAITS REPOMAN WALKING BAIT. DAMIKI D POP, DON IOVINO SPLASH IT POPPERS ans a COTTON CORDELL BROKEN BACK REDFIN are all great choices for exploding top water action. After the top water action slows down it is time to pick up a shakey head or wacky rig. Fish boat docks, rocks, bridges and brush piles. Shakey Heads rigged with Zoom Trick Worms, Deep Creek Lures 6″ MT Worm & finesse worms work great. Green Pumpkin, Watermelon and Junebug are very popular colors that work great. Look for the fish to be in 6-12 feet of water for most of the month.  Towards the end of the month, most of the fish will migrate to deeper water, sometimes even more that 20 feet.

CRAPPIE– The Specks have moved back out to the bridge pilings and deep brush piles for the summer. The best way to catch them will be with small-medium minnows rigged on a slip bobber. They can be found anywhere fro 10-25 feet of water. Do not look for the to return to the shallows until fall when the water temps start falling into the mid 60’s. STRIPER– Look for the striper in the mid lake region down to about Dike 1 all month long. At first light you can find them chasing bait fish and can catch the on top. Walking baits, Broken Back Redfins and jerkbaits will all catch fish. After the morning feed is over, look for schools on your electronics and drop Toothache Spoons to them.

Trolling is also becoming very effective as the summer draws closer. Deep Diving Redfins with a bucktail trailer, Bill NOrman DD22’s and BPS LEC 15’s are all great baits for trolling.

For the anglers that want to use live bait, Blue Back Herring is very plentiful this year. You will need to get out before daylight breaks and hang lights to attract the bait.

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (June 1, 2015) – J.R. Henard of Rogersville, Tennessee, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 18 pounds, 13 ounces Saturday to win the fourth Walmart Bass Fishing League Volunteer Division tournament of 2015 on Cherokee Lake. For his victory, Henard earned $5,514.
“Last season I was able to finish strong so that’s what I’m using as motivation this year,” said Henard who was the BFL Wild Card tournament champion last fall. “I’m excited to see what the next few months bring.
“I started at an offshore spot dragging a black and blue-colored Profound Outdoors Swamper football-head jig and I caught my first two keepers within 45 minutes,” said Henard. “I stayed deep, but couldn’t find anything for a long time so I decided to head in shallow and flip willow trees and caught a few more good fish.”
Around 2 o’clock, Henard said he caught his largest fish – a 6-pounder – on a white Spro Poppin’ Frog.
“The frog had a unique shade of white that the bass seemed to be reacting to well,” Henard said.
Looking ahead, Henard hopes he can surpass his success from the 2014 tournament season.
“Winning tournaments like this is just the fuel I need to do more preparation work and fish harder,” Henard said.
