Saturday May 17th, 2014 ~ Falls Lake~ Ledge Rock Wildlife Ramp

517-141st1st Place: Jay Garrard & Mark Herndon of Durham & Bahama…5 bass…23.90

The Piedmont Bass Classics Team Bass Spring Mini Trail final qualifier #5 was fished by 32 teams on a day
with the water rising hard at Falls Lake. It was unseasonably cool that morning but ended up being a nice and
comfortable 70 degrees at weighin. The winds were very light that morning getting up to about 12mph in the
afternoon. Water temps averaged 77 degrees. The bass showed signs of post spawn and even with the rising
water bit pretty good. The water was up about 5 feet leaving some spawning fish in deeper water and the post
spawn bass looking for food in the bushes and lower tree branches! Most of the fish were caught on creature
jigs and senkos with others caught on spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and crankbaits in 1 to 6 feet of water.
Jay Garrard of Durham & Mark Herndon of Bahama caught 5 nice bass weighing a total of 23.90 lbs. taking
1st Place, 1st Place TWT and the Tow Boats US Member Bonus for a total of $1,157 in winnings.

2nd Place went to David Lynch & Daniel Everwine of Siler City, with 5 bass weighing 23.05 lbs., taking home
a total of $436. Big fish for the day was caught by the team of Hal Abshire & Ethan Cox weighing in at 6.74 lbs and
winning them $320 in prize money! Numerous bass over 6 lbs. were brought to the scales!
78 bass were weighed in for a total of 256 pounds. This averaged right at 3.28 lbs. a fish and they were nice
and healthy looking. Fishing at Falls will only get better in the weeks to come!
I want to thank all the anglers that participated and all our sponsors that support these trails. Our next
