SALISBURY, N.C. (June 15, 2015) – Robert Barrett of Youngsville, North Carolina, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 19 pounds, 5 ounces Saturday to win the third Walmart Bass Fishing League Piedmont Division tournament of 2015 on High Rock Lake. For his victory, Barrett earned $4,806.
“I fished a sandy spot about 1000 feet from the takeoff ramp,” Barrett said. “The bass were feeding on shad in a small pocket along a bank. I used a ¼-ounce custom green-pumpkin shaky-head rig with a South Africa Special-colored Zoom Worm to catch my fish. I had my winning stringer completed by 8:30 a.m.
“The flat I targeted was in 14 to 16 feet of water,” continued Barrett. “I had done well in there in practice, so I knew that’s where I needed to be.”
Barrett said he caught approximately 11 keepers over the course of his day.
“I was lucky in the fact that I didn’t have to run around the entire lake looking for new spots,” Barrett said. “For some reason that bank held a lot of fish. I was pretty lucky.”
