Built from the DNA of Simms extremely popular ProDry™ Suit, Simms Challenger Jacket and Bib boast the same fit, function and ruggedness in an affordable $400 package.
Just like any piece of foul weather gear, the foundation of its weather defense begins with fabric. To achieve its best in class weather protection, the product team at Simms sourced an ultra-rugged, yet highly breathable 2-layer Toray® fabric. With fully taped seams in the jacket and bib, anglers can rest assure that when they’ve engaged all of the Challenger’s defense mechanisms, they will be 100% protected from whatever elements Mother Nature decides to throw at them. When the sky opens and the bite is on, a 3-point adjustable storm hood (stowable when not in use), oversized collar, external storm flaps and adjustable cuffs keep anglers in the moment without missing a beat or a bite.
Like the Pro Dry™, the Challenger Suit was designed to have a tailored fit that allows hours upon hours of unhindered casting and complete mobility from bow to stern. Anglers have the ability to customize the fit even further by fine tuning with a dual draw-cord adjustable bottom hem. Just like the Jacket, the Challenger Bib is constructed from the same breathable/rugged 2-Layer Toray® fabric, is fully taped and features a storm flap to reinforce weather protection over its YKK® Vislon Zipper.
In addition to being highly packable, the Jacket and Bib were designed to offer anglers easy/fast on off capabilities. With a slick interior liner, the jacket glides over layers with ease while the halfway zips in the leg portion of the bibs give anglers full weather coverage in a hurry.
In terms of storage, the Challenger Jacket features two fleece lined pockets to thaw frozen fingers, an internal stash pocket for smaller necessities and one large chest pocket perfect for stowing go-to gear that also has a built-in sunglass cleaning cloth. For other extras that need to be kept close at hand, the bib features a large thigh pocket equipped with built-in plier storage with a reinforced sheath.
