Yesterday, October 8th, the Virginia Kayak Bass Challenge Classic at Smith Mountain Lake. It also happened to be the same day Hurricane Matthew came into Virginia, but had been downgraded to a Tropical Storm. So needless to say, it was a wet rainy day. Even though the tough conditions, there were some good fish submitted. We payed out two spots and thanks to our great sponsors, we had prizes for everyone to take something home.
Copeland Still ended up in first place with 49.5 inches for 3 fish. He also got Big Bass with a 17.75 inch largemouth. Copeland took home $485 and a great prize package with prizes from YakAttack, Mystery Tackle Box, Appomattox River Company, YakAddicts, Dicks Sporting Goods, Hoo-Rag, ActionHat and Connect Scale
Jody Queen spent his first time at Smith Mountain Lake in the pouring rain
and wind, but will managed to get some decent fish. Jody had 45.25 inches with a 17.25 inch kicker. He received $250 for his second place finish and took also took home a killer prize package from all the sponsors listed above.
Dustin got third place, and a great sponsor goodie bag. Best of all, he received a qualification for the Kayak Bass Fishing National Championship. Congratulations Dustin, see you at Kentucky Lake in March!
