BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (Feb. 22, 2019) – Registration for the Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) Tour Marshal Experience is under way for the upcoming FLW Tour at Lake Seminole presented by Costa, March 7-10. Introduced for 2019, the FLW Tour Marshal program offers serious anglers and fans a rare opportunity to get in the boat with a competitor on the FLW Tour – the world’s most prestigious tournament-fishing circuit – and gain valuable insight into how to break down a fishery, all the while receiving VIP treatment and playing a vital role in live coverage of the event.

Marshals will be paired with one of 170 FLW Tour pros as they compete on Lake Seminole for a top prize of up to $125,000. Fans who sign up will be eligible for a top cash award of $2,500. The top Marshal is determined by the combined weight of the pros they are randomly paired with each day of the event, with payouts extending down to 10th place.

The program, which is available to FLW members who are at least 16 years old, debuted earlier this season. Just last month at the second Tour stop of the year on Lake Toho in Florida, 70-year-old retired minister Dan Hughes of Fitzgerald, Georgia, won $2,500 as the event’s top Marshal while witnessing firsthand how then-tournament leader John Cox and pro Chris Neau broke down the lake each day.

“I liked it from the get-go when I read the article about it and looked it up online,” Hughes said. “I said, ‘I can do this.’ I just had my 70th birthday back in January and I said, by George, I’m going to do some things I want to do now. I told my wife that and she said go ahead. I brought her down with me as my fishing partner. She took me to the marina and picked me up when it was over in the afternoon. She had a big time too.”

Hughes plans on being a marshal at both Lake Seminole and Chickamauga Lake, two of the next four stops on the FLW Tour and the two Tour events closest to home for him. And he’s been spreading the word about the marshal program and all it has to offer. The program appealed to Hughes from the very start. He wants others to know about it, too.

“The check has already been deposited,” Hughes said. “That’s the most I’ve ever made in anything in my life like that. My wife said now she can go shopping. That’s the way it works. We’ve been married 47 years, so I’m used to it.”

Lake Seminole marshals are invited to attend a VIP cookout and seminar with select FLW Tour pros on Wednesday, March 6. They will also get behind-the-scenes access throughout the event and receive exclusive FLW clothing. As an added bonus, each Marshal will also be entered to win a new Ranger Z518L powered by a 200-horsepower Evinrude E-TEC G2 that will be given away to one lucky Marshal at the end of the season. Marshals will receive one entry in the Ranger boat giveaway for each opening round completed and can earn bonus entries into the giveaway by marshaling on days three and four.

There are still openings to be a Marshal for the Lake Seminole tournament. Full rules and details for the Marshal program, along with the link to apply, can be found at FLWFishing.com/Marshals.
