It was again a tough bite today in the PBC Cashion Fishing Rods ‘End of Year’ Team Tournament Bass Fishing Trail Qualifier #5 at Falls Lake. Most of the 38 boat field had a hard time finding 5 good bass but as always, one team did find enough fish top the field and win the cash!! Surface water temps were around 82 degrees and the weather was great, light wind and temps run from 67 to 84. Typical summer/fall bite for the lakes around here.

Mark Herndon (on left) & Jay Garrard won 1st with 5 bass weighing a nice total of 20.71 lbs. and also won 1st Place TWT for a total of $1,703 in prize money!

The 2nd Place team of Todd Sumner & Mike Dinterman caught a 5 fish limit of

bass weighing 13.50 lbs. and along with winning the 2nd Place TWT they took home $845 in winnings. Bobby & David Matthews took 3rd Place with 5 bass weighing 13.46 lbs. taking home $425 in winnings. The 4th Place Team of David Allen & his wife Jennifer (subbing for David’s Son Cody) also won the Big Fish Award for the day with a

real nice 8.53 pounder to take home $866 in cash!!
95 bass were brought to the scales and most looked very healthy! Topwater early, worm rigs, jigs, crankbaits & spinnerbaits in 10′ to 12′ of water on channel dropoffs seemed to be the lures of choice.Most of the smaller bass were caught shallow. Look for bait fish this time of year to increase your odds.
