The first worm ever created was in 1949 and they’ve come a long way since then to say the least. Worms are the true backbone and inspiration behind any other bait design nowadays. Over time, anglers have come up with various different methods to use when fishing a worm, but we’ve found that there is really only a combination of four different strategies that you’re going to want to leverage during early springtime. These techniques have been proven to work for years and are always fun to use once you have them mastered! Our Fresh Worms will work the best when using these methods because they provide lifelike action and have a 5-inch profile that fish simply can’t miss or resist!
We highly recommend our Fresh Worms because they’re not only made of nonsalted plastic for lifelike action and durability but they also FLOAT! Most of our Color-Shifting Worms are all out of stock but we just released three new must-have colors, (Watermelon Red, Black & Blue, and Green Pumpkin). We also have some Fire TGR Worms along with some of our Color Shifting Charmleon Worms left in stock, but not for long… Hurry before they’re gone!
This rigging style is mostly known for its ability to give a worm that natural shimmy action which triggers bites from all sized bass. It’s best to fish with a 7ft medium action spinning rod, paired with a size 20 reel, spooled with a 10Ib braid, and an 8Ib leader. The Texas Rig allows your worm to almost move freely as if it was really alive. Our All-Purpose Hooks are most ideal for Texas Rigging.

Using an unweighted twist lock hook will leave you limited so we always recommend that to use a weighted one instead. Our Owner Weighted Twistlock Hook provides the perfect amount of weight needed in order to let the natural action of the worm shine through. Too much weight will remove the natural action you want. The worm should fall vertically with a swimming-type movement. All of the fish sitting under will come up and strike at the worm as it’s swimming downward. Using an Owner Twist Lock Hook gives a distinctive look all season long that is a go-to for all anglers especially when it comes down to bass being positioned on edged or weeds and cover. You typically want to fish a 7ft medium action, teamed with a bait caster reel, and spooled with a 12Ib to 16Ib line. Don’t forget to grab some Weighted Twistlock Hooks!

This method can be fished weighted or unweighted but we prefer to just use an Owner Stick Bait Shacky Head to stay safe. The easiest way to rig it is to fold your worm in half and run the hook through the middle. This will allow your worm to last much longer and can end up saving you a ton of money. The hook will be snug into the worm so you will not have to worry about it ripping easily. For gear, it would be ideal to use a 7ft medium spinning set up paired with a size 20 spinning reel spooled with a 12Ib braid and an 8Ib or 10Ib leader.

Bass will be sitting on weed edges or on top of the weeds patrolling for food. You’ll want to cast into these areas and keep in mind that most of the time you will not even feel your worm move, but instead you’ll start to see your line move when you get a bite. Ideally, you’ll want to use a 7ft medium action spinning set up, with a size 20 spinning reel, spooled with a 12Ib braid that has an 8Ib leader. Having the right amount of weight is key so we prefer using our 5 inch Fresh Worms rigged with a Block Head Jig. Using an Owner Block Head Jig works so well because you’re really able to keep your bait on top of the weeds where it can be seen by the fish. Our Fresh Worms are big enough for the fish to see and they’re made with a nonsalted plastic that allows them to float!
