SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (June 8, 2015) – Mark Pierce of Cadiz, Kentucky, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 19 pounds, 14 ounces Saturday to win the fourth Walmart Bass Fishing League Mountain Division tournament of 2015 on the Barren River. For his victory, Pierce earned $4,729.
“For me, this tournament was about patience and instinct,” said Pierce, who earned the first victory of his career after two previous top-10 finishes in BFL competition. “I didn’t get any decent bites until after 8 a.m. and even then they were sporadic.”
Using a sexy shad-colored Strike King Pro Model 6XD Silent Crankbait, Pierce caught three keepers at an offshore rock patch in approximately 12 feet of water.
“It wasn’t a big school, but the bass were good sized,” Pierce said. “I’m a firm believer that silent baits perform the best on this lake when the fish are postspawn.”
Around 10:30, Pierce ran to a mid-lake point  where he casted a Strike King 10XD Crankbait and pulled in a 4-pounder. To cap off his stringer, Pierce said he finished his day targeting areas near the Barren River Dam with a blueback herring-colored Big Bite Baits BB Kicker Swimbait.
“I truly believe that my knowledge of fish activity on this lake served me better than my electronics,” Pierce concluded. “Sometimes history is a better indicator of behavior.”
The top 10 boaters finished the tournament in:

SALISBURY, N.C. (June 8, 2015) – Joey Sabbagha of Chapin, South Carolina, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 16 pounds, 6 ounces Saturday to win the fourth Walmart Bass Fishing League North Carolina Division tournament of 2015 on High Rock Lake. For his victory, Sabbagha earned $6,155.
“Competing in this tournament was a great way to spend the weekend,” said Sabbagha, who earned his first win after 12 previous career top-10 finishes in FLW competition. “I couldn’t be happier with the results.”
Sabbagha said he spent the majority of his day fishing docks in Abbotts Creek.
“I caught five fish along the docks,” Sabbagha said. “The first bass came around 8 a.m. and the last one came at 10.
“My bait of choice was a green-pumpkin-colored Buckeye Lures Mini Mop Jig with a green-pumpkin Zoom Super Chunk trailer,” continued Sabbagha. “Most of the fish I located were in three feet of water. They were very active in the shallow depths.”
Around 1:30 p.m., Sabbagha said he moved to a northern spot where he was able to catch his sixth keeper and cull out a smaller fish with five minutes remaining in the tournament. With just a 3-ounce margin of victory, that fish was the difference maker.
“The medium-heavy rod I was using was crucial to my success,” said Sabbagha. “The extra-soft tip allowed me to get the jig way up under the docks.”

SKIATOOK, Okla. (June 8, 2015) – Sean McAllister of Checotah, Oklahoma, weighed four bass totaling 16 pounds, 13 ounces Saturday to win the fourth Walmart Bass Fishing League North Okie Division tournament of 2015 on Skiatook Lake. For his victory, McAllister earned $4,618.
“To finally come out on top at a BFL tournament feels great,” said McAllister, who earned his first career victory in his 20th BFL Okie division tournament. “It’s been a long time coming.
“I found my fish in some timber flats near Cedar Creek, where they were suspended 8 feet down,” continued McAllister. “I was flipping a green-pumpkin-colored Punch Skirt jig with a Zoom Trick Worm. When the wind picked up I switched to a green-pumpkin Zoom Speed Craw because it was easier to control.”
McAllister said each of the four keepers he landed during the tournament came from the same 150-yard stretch.
“I predicted it would take 12 pounds to win the tournament so after I got my third keeper in the boat I started to get pretty excited,” McAllister said. “I spent the last hour of the tournament trying to find a kicker.”
At 1:55 p.m., McAllister managed to pull in a 6-pound, 15-ounce behemoth – tied for the biggest bass of the tournament.

COLUMBIANA, Ala. (June 8, 2015) – Bo Hunter of Gardendale, Alabama, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 15 pounds, 13 ounces Saturday to win the fourth Walmart Bass Fishing League Bama Division tournament of 2015 on Lay Lake. For his victory, Hunter earned $4,127.
Hunter said he focused on mid- and upper-river areas on the Coosa River where the current created seams and edges.
“I preferred to stop at isolated wood patches where the water separated,” said Hunter. “The bass seemed to be attracted to the sudden change of direction.
“My first fish came on a Lucky Craft Gunfish topwater bait,” Hunter continued. “When the bait went down about seven feet there was a lot of activity.”
After catching two keepers, Hunter said he spent his afternoon targeting 14 different areas with a coonasty-colored Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver.
“I caught my two largest fish on the Sweet Beaver,” said Hunter. “Luckily I had enough weight to edge the competition.”

Jason Suggs & Britten O’Quinn Win Piedmont BASS Classic $10,000 Spring Bass Trail Qualifier #7 May 30th 2015

PIEDMONT BASS CLASSICS $10,000 SPRING TEAM BASS TRAIL QUALIFIER #7 RESULTS
Saturday May 30th, 2015 ~ Falls Lake ~ Ledge Rock Wildlife Ramp

[print_link]

Another beautiful day bringing a large crowd to fish the PBC Final Qualifer #7 at Falls Lake. Temps in the am were around 69 and up to about 89 in the afternoon. The wind today was mostly light and water temps averaged 84. Most of the 76 teams that caught the bigger bags said the bite was fairly deep with some coming from water up to 20 foot. Summertime crankbait pattern here for sure!

Jason Suggs & Britten O’Quinn won the honors with 5 bass weighing a nice 27.31 lbs. along with 1st Place in the TWT and took home $2,550 in winnings. Points leaders at this time, Jaime Fajardo & Josh Hooks, widened their points lead with a 2nd place finish of 5 fish weighing 24.71 lbs. They also won the 2nd place TWT bringing their winnings to $1,315. The 9th Place team of Jerry Marshburn and Chuck Byrd took the Big Bass honors with an 8.20 lb. bass and took home a total of $1,309. The prize money really got spread around giving quite a few teams a nice payday!!! 293 fish were weighed in for a total of 948 pounds for an average of 3.23 lbs. each. The bite was really good with most all of the teams catching some bass. We had 12 teams with 20 lb. sacks and the other 3 winning teams were right there at it! Most of the fish were caught on crankbaits and worm & jig rigs in deeper water off points and channel dropoffs. This was our final qualifier for the PBC $10,000 Spring Trail and I want to thank all the anglers that participated and all our sponsors that support this trail. It was a great success again this year and with our new title sponsor for 2016 it should be better than ever!!! Coming up June 6th will be the Cashion Fishing Rods Spring Team Bass Mini Trail Championship at Shearon Harris out of Cross Point Landing. This is just for qualified teams only and is not an open event. Spectators are more that welcome to attend the weighin at 3pm that day!

BASS AND BBQ COMPETITION SET FOR FORREST WOOD CUP EXPO
Sample BBQ from 30 teams in Kansas City Barbecue Society Competition
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (June 9, 2015) – FLW is adding some Arkansas flavor to the 2015 Forrest Wood Cup with its Bass & BBQ competition as part of the FLW Expo outside the Hot Springs Convention Center and Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs, Arkansas, August 22 and 23. The 30-team BBQ competition is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and will be part of a yearlong points race to find the best barbecue in the country.
During the two day BBQ event, fans will have the opportunity to taste BBQ from some of the top competing teams in the country. A $5 donation will give fans five tickets to redeem for pulled pork and rib samples from teams competing. All fans who buy sampling tickets will help determine the Fishermen’s Favorite Award, which goes to the team that collects the most votes. Awards will be presented before the Forrest Wood Cup weigh-ins Saturday and Sunday at Bank of the Ozarks Arena. The total payout for the two-day competition is $10,000.
“Fans that come out to the Forrest Wood Cup this year are in for a real treat,” said Steve Arrison, Chief Executive Officer of Visit Hot Springs. “We’ve got great fishing, great music and great BBQ, and it is going to make for one awesome week.”
Any KCBS sanctioned teams wanting to participate in the Bass & BBQ competition can contact Scott Ellison with FLW by email at [email protected]. There are only a few spots left, so please follow up soon to reserve a spot in the competition.
The FLW Expo and Bass & BBQ event are free and open to the public Friday, August 21 – Sunday, August 23 from 10 a.m. – 4: 30 p.m. Live concerts will also be part of the Bass & BBQ festival outside Saturday and Sunday, with country music superstar Justin Moore headlining the event with a free show on Sunday at 4 p.m. before the final weigh-in.
The Forrest Wood Cup presented by Walmart, the world championship of bass fishing, will visit Lake Ouachita to crown bass fishing’s top angler of 2015. Hosted by Visit Hot Springs and Arkansas Parks and Tourism, the tournament will feature 50 of the world’s best bass-fishing professionals and co-anglers casting for the sport’s biggest awards – $500,000 cash in the pro division and $50,000 cash in the co-angler division.
