The Potomac River was tough, with most anglers seeking out community holes. Bryan Thrift and Andy Morgan we’re battling hard for the Angler of the Year (AOY) title. Andy made a hard charge, but Bryan did what he needed to do to wrap up an amazing year.
Day 2 ended with Bryan having a 29 lb 12 oz bag, earning him a $10,000 paycheck and a place in history. Andy finished day 2 with 12th place and a total of 32 lbs 7 ounces, but falling just shy of his goal.
Sweating it out on the Mississippi and Potomac Rivers is putting it mildly. Bryan said that it really was nerve wrecking. But the Shelby, NC resident resident finally got to breathe. “I really should have listened to my wife,” he admitted. She had told him to relax and just go fish, if it’s meant to be, it will happen. Sound advice that we have a hard time believing during the heat of the moment.
And how do you celebrate the big moment. You go out with Scott Martin, who finished 77th with 27 lbs, and film a Scott Martin Challenge. What could be better?
Congratulations Bryan on such an amazing year! Now on to the Forrest Wood Cup!
